Product Description

The mind is a tricky thing. No one knows that better than Michelle O’Brian due to maladaptive daydreaming, an undiagnosed disorder that makes HER question the line between reality and fantasy. Forced to change careers after her goal of making a mark in the journalism world implodes, she finds herself unable to stop fantasizing about her new boss. And every other man she comes across.
Her uncontrollable daydreams are a problem at work. Not even an orgasm inducing visit to her sexy as hell friend, Russ Seko, can stem the need for her mind to wander. But as it becomes clear that Russ wants more, and her workplace flirting may not be all pretend, things get out of hand. Fast.

Caught between two men, trapped by her ambition, and fooled by her own mind, how can Michelle trust anything in her life when dreams seem so real?

5.0 out of 5 stars I don't even like romance novels 29 March 2016
By Laura Pliskin - Published on

Honestly, I don't even like romance novels. But I was looking for something light to read after a particularly emotional novel and figured this would be a good choice. I mainly chose it because it takes place in Pittsburgh, a city in which I dearly love & currently reside.

I was sincerely surprised by how much I enjoyed the plot. The characters are well developed, the story was interesting, and I found I couldn't put the damn thing down. The ending was particularly satisfying for my own personal reasons. I encourage anyone who likes this genre (or knows little about it) to pick this up & give it a read. I look forward to the author's subsequent books.
5.0 out of 5 stars A new take! 2 April 2016

This was such an interesting read. I admit that when I started it, I thought it was going to be exactly like many other books of this genre but was pleasantly surprised that the story was all its own. The suspense surrounding Michelle's unusual condition had me on the edge of my seat through most of the book and I found that once I got into the story, I couldn't put it down. It is always nice to read a book that is calling to me all day while I'm at work and makes me want to rush home so I can pick it up again. I would definitely read another book by this author!

Not a big fan of romance before, but heard about this new author and thought I would give it a read. Could not put it down. New storyline and wonderful characters kept me interested to very end. A great read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Actually too much sex... 7 June 2016
By TripletMom - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I like a sexy book as much as the next girl, but Michelle has some serious mental issues. She not only seems to need physical release to function, she also confuses daydreams/dreams with reality.
I think this would have made a great novella with the same story line but fewer daydreams. I found myself skipping ahead when it seemed like she was slipping into a daydream.
Other than skipping over a lot of the sex, it was a really enjoyable story. That's why I gave it 4 stars.
4.0 out of 5 stars Unique and surprising 29 April 2016
By Jennifer Schaber - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I asked for this one on a whim as the premise was so different. I can't imagine living in a world where you (at times) cannot differentiate between fantasy and reality. I felt for Michelle and commended her best friends Coral and Russ. They've all been friends since college. Russ was Michelle's boyfriend back then and a decade later, they are still occasionally hooking up. As Michelle's imagination rages like a wild fire, her friendships become strained - in different ways. Michelle's coping mechanisms seem to disappear as the lines blur more and more. She appears to be a sexual train wreck. It's obvious that Russ wants more than she's willing to give. We even see Coral fall in love - which is a rarity with the books I've read. There are a lot of explicitly sexual scenes and sometimes the reader doesn't even know if Michelle is fantasizing or if it's her reality. This was written extremely well with developed characters and a story line that it unique to say the least.
Why not 5 stars? This book plays out a very long time period with gaps near the end. We know that most of it is day to day life, but there are some things that I would have liked to have seen as a reader. I would have liked to see a little more on the Jeremiah front. Millie's instinct said something was up, but what was it? I was left wondering about the job change as well.
All in all, this was a fabulous debut and I would highly recommend this book. I look forward to reading more from Brandy as well.
