More a book about gaming combatants online as avatars, quite enjoyable.

Did not like it, didn't finish it which is extremely rare for me. I think I was bored.
Scream If You Want It, Because I want MORE.Reviewed in the United States on 15 January 2017
I'm reminded of the song, Never Gonna Stop, by Rob Zombie. Because that would be a great soundtrack for this book. High energy, straightforward, no pretension. It is exactly what you think it is. This book could be compressed into a montage for a movie of training, and battles and leaderboards. There's a line in the song that goes, "Scream If You Want It, Because I want MORE". The more I want is deeper characters, more twists and less predictability. It's super light reading and engaging. It's a nice single read.

and that's one of things I really like about itReviewed in the United States on 17 May 2016
If you're looking for a book with a strong female main character, this is it. In a future world where virtual reality gaming is the new celebrity sport, Kali is one of the few upper echelon female players. But the story isn't about that, and that's one of things I really like about it. It's one small bit of what drives her, but she's not trying to prove a point. Mostly she's just a gamer through and through, doing what she loves and trying to deal with the pressures and demands of the fame it brings. I also like a book with a strong story and character arc, and this one came through, unlike a lot of the other books I've read lately.

This book was recommended by an author that I really likeReviewed in the United States on 27 June 2017
This book was recommended by an author that I really like. It fell short for me though. It was set in the future where people are basically playing gladiator games in a virtual world. The main character is Kali and it is told from her point of view. Gaming is everything to her but the novel is about her journey and how gaming almost takes everything away. There is some romance and a little action but it needed more story. Things just resolved themselves a little too fast. It lacked depth. I didn't really care that much about the characters. It is a fast read though.
