I have to admit, I didn't know what to expect with this book. This sure wasn't it!

This was a beautiful, sad, romantic and feel good story! It is a keeper on my book list!

Archer. Tragic past, isolated, screwed up family, huge secrets yet sweet and gentle. He reminded me of my husband. My husband grew up in a screwed up, mentally abusive household, yet he is the sweetest person. He would give you the shirt off his back if you asked him. He isn't bitter about how he grew up either. It is the same with Archer. Yes there is a matching set of emotional baggage that is carried around...but that shapes a person. That person has a choice to let it shape them for the good, or bad. They learn from it or use it as an excuse.

Bree. Running from a horrific experience. Finding the pieces of her in Pelion. Archer helped put her back together. I just loved how the friendship developed. The thought the author put into someone whom isn't capable of speech, but whom can understand, hear and write. How would it be to live in a small town where the Hale family line founded the town history and there are expectations and huge secrets. Yet the town allows the isolation of a wounded lonely boy. Rumours of Archer being mute, stupid or simple flourish. He protects himself the only way he can... Bree was a lovely breath of fresh air into his lonely existence. It was beautiful to watch and read the growing friendship. The doubts they both had in this new relationship.

This was a fantastic journey that will be sticking in my mind for days to come. This is a book that you can't just put down and forget. These characters will be remembered. This is the kind of story that you will want to read again and again.

It was just that good.

This is absolutely a MUST READ! This is a very well-written book whose main characters have very real and believable struggles. I feel a little phony writing a review as this is a story that you really need to just experience for yourself. Let me put it this way, Archer's Voice has become one of my favourite books of all time.
Archer Hale is a young man who is mute due to a tragic incident at the age of seven. Archer's true disability isn't his inability to speak, but rather the isolation of his world. After the tragedy, Archer becomes the ward of his anti-social uncle, and the isolation from the outside world only imprisons Archer further. Now 23 years old, Archer lives all alone on the outskirts of town, he is basically a recluse. Not only is Archer trying to hide from the residents in the small town, but the residents are doing their best to ignore the young man that is "different" or "special". That is until the new resident, Bree, shows up and shows everyone that Archer isn't as different as they perceived him to be. This story is about looking beyond the disability and differences, and seeing the true beauty of an individual.
This story is so powerful because Archer learns, through Bree that he isn't so different, and the towns folk learn that they were more crippling to Archer than his handicap.
This story teaches us that the strongest people don't have to be alpha males or the most educated, it's the ones with the purest intentions and hearts.
This is a love story that not only celebrates our differences, but also focuses on how those very differences can become our own strengths. It's truly beautiful and unforgettable. I have now read it 3 times and cried and was awed each time. 5 stars feels too little.

"There has only ever been you. There. Will. Only. Ever. Be. You."

A breathtakingly beautiful story of healing, trust, loyalty and deep love. ARCHER'S VOICE took me on a unique journey of self preservation, selfless love, and healing. My heart cried for both Archer and Bree's horrifying pasts, but through their love and devotion, these two broken souls began to heal.

Archer Hale....a hero that will forever have my heart. This silent, beautiful, broken man had a heart of gold but was misunderstood by everyone around him. Archer was sweet, shy, honest, loyal and protective. But oh, the injustice this man went through since he was 7 years old was cruel and heartbreaking. Archer's past slowly unfolds in a series of flashbacks that left me sick to my stomach. I wanted to wrap my arms around him and take away all the pain and loneliness he endured. I wanted to undo everything evil and painful in his life.

Bree Prescott was beautiful on the inside and out; a genuinely sweet, caring and gentle heroine that I would have been honoured to be friends with. She understood Archer on so many levels and her patience and determination to know Archer was commendable. Bree is also marred by a single event in her past that is haunting her. It is with Archer that she finds a way to overcome her fears.

The connection between Archer and Bree was electrifying and intense. The attraction and pull was palpable right from their very first encounter, but Ms. Sheridan perfectly paces the story as we see the relationship between Archer and Bree develop and grow. The build up towards their first time together (Archer's first time ever) was amazing and when it finally happened, it was absolutely beautiful and tender.
