Wow.. what a story. Such anticipation for this book and it did not disappoint. Finally we get to see who the Hummingbird really is and wow.. she just shines! Hummingbird finally becomes Sharine, leaving behind the broken fragile angel that she was. Titus, expecting the fragile, broken, soft spoken, artist was bowled over with who stood before him. Talk about perplexed, he had no idea how to deal with this new woman! As they battle the remains of Charisemnon and Lijuan evil the attraction to each other begins and grows until it forges a bond so deep that nothing will part it.
I thought I would be disappointed in the fact that there is very little mention of Raphael and Elena but I was so caught up in the story that in the end, it didn't matter.
This book is a must read but the full series needs to be read to fully understand what is happening and who all the players are.
Nalini is a master of her craft. Her books are simply amazing

this was not what I was expecting at all
I generally love this author but this was different to what has come before.. I can't quite put my finger on it.. but it just didn't quite hit the mark..
I love Nalini too much to say it was disappointing or bad.. I still snorted and cried my way through and definetly enjoyed the adventure .. but it will never be my favourite..
I believe this to be a bit of bridge to a new story Arc
can't wait for the next installment.. hoping it will be the Illium Aodhan love story we've been getting hints of for quite some time now..

I enjoyed it, as I enjoy pretty much everything written by this author. However, I didn’t quite feel the romance the way I thought I would. Maybe my expectations were too high. The h &H just seemed to fall for each other so quickly, especially considering the lives that they’ve lived.
**
Note: I really liked how Titus referred to the blue and green haired donkey 😂

I love this series. Not only are you drawn into this vibrant stunning world but you can't wait to see what happens to the characters. While there are only glimpses of old favourites from previous books, the storyline focusses on a healing Hummingbird and a number of new interesting characters. I really enjoyed this book. Highly recommend.

This is a heart warming story, has a few twists and turns, but not a tear jerker like the last 2 books.
I loved reading about Sharine - the hummingbird, this book made her into a real character and did the same with Titus.

Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter series continues to be an engrossing read.
But of a pity that we didn’t get to see much of the main cast in this book, but it was nice getting a new perspective.

Always look forward to the next book in the series. Was enlightening to learn more about another archangel that we saw snippets of in previous books. Definately have a better understanding of Titus now. And we got to see some of Hummingbirds story unfold as well. As always i will be a loyal reader of nalini singhs books.

I love Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter series as much as I love her Psy Changeling series. This was a read in one session, very hard to put down book. An exceptional read and great to get to know bit of the Hummingbird’s back story.

A story I didn't realise I'd been waiting for
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 November 2020Verified Purchase
I don't often write reviews, yes I'll give a star rating but I don't actually write my thoughts down. I feel compelled to in this instance, Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series has long been on my instant buy read. I'm sure you all have those authors that you one click buy without even reading the synopsis and if you haven't all ready then add her to your list of authors. Whilst I personally feel that any of this series can can stand on its own I advise you not read this book unless you have first read the others in the series as there is a wealth of history in this wonderfully created world and about these main characters that just helps paint a bigger image. This series is not just a love story although love is truly at its core, not just romantic love but familial love, the love found in friendship and truly the love that is found in goodness. Like any tale as old as time there exists great evil in this world and those with light within them to stand against this. This book is about self discovery, female empowerment and a lead male of strong principles who knows a woman's worth and is not threatened by this. As for who would I recommend this series to, the answer is anyone mature enough to understand the love between a man and woman, anyone who loves a happy ending and who takes the characters they read about in to their hearts. I truly hope you can enjoy this series and this book as much as I do and have done and I eagerly await another in this series.

Titus and the Hummingbird two great characters.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 November 2020Verified Purchase
You always knew there was great tragedy in Sharine ( the Hummingbirds) past , but when you discover what she went through it’s no wonder her psyche shattered, so that she withdrew for life behind a mental fog which lasted centuries. But now in a world turned upside down by the Archangelic war she can no longer afford to hide for the world. It is time for Sharine to return to the world as a fully functioning ancient, prepared to do her best to help rebuild this shattered world. Sharine is asked if she will go to Titus in Africa as he is struggling still to contain the reborn let loose on his continent. Not only are they deadly and infectious but these reborn also have an animal cunning which leads them to band together, hide from discovery and make concentrated attacks against vulnerable villages. Titus is at his wits end, his troops are overworked straining to stay ahead of this deadly scourge so the last thing he needs is to have to stop and put on a courtiers display for a fragile artist. Oh boy does he get a shock when Sharine arrives, Titus has always been a lover of women but it has always been on his terms. Fun and games with no promises made, Lady Sharine turns all that on its head but a Hummingbird is a delicate thing can he look beyond who Sharine was to see who she now is.

Like a gradual sunrise

(Some spoilers). It got 4 stars because... At first I didn't think I'd like this pairing much, not that I have anything against Sharine and Titus. Just that they've both kinda taken abit of a backseat in the series so far. But was pleasantly delighted with seeing more into the personalities of these two, and how they clashed initially. This new insight into the aftermath of the reborn plague is gruesome, and it should take top priority, but I find myself wishing we had more glimpses into their chemistry earlier on in the story, and that they had gotten together much earlier. Sharine's decision to Titus is perfect. Then again I'm just a sucker for happy endings! I guess it's just a difference in pace, between the last book and this one.

The Hummingbird's journey
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 December 2020Verified Purchase
I've always wondered about Illium's mum life, the Hummingbird (Sharine), and this book did not disappoint. I loved her journey as she slowly came out of her shell. She was passionate, fierce and kind. The chemistry between Sharine and Titus was a wonderful slow burner. Titus was one of the archangels that I liked, and it was great getting to know him, seeing who he is a person and how he cares for his people and those that he loves. While the were some tough moments in this book because of dealing with the aftermath of war, there were moments of joy, hope, resilience and love. It was a worthwhile book, and I cannot wait to see what's next in the Guild Hunter series.

Excellent as usual

I enjoyed this book. It had a great story of somebody coming back to live after struggling with traumas. It is definitely a 5 star book but isn’t one of her best. Areas felt a bit rushed and feel like she wanted to add in more. Perhaps editor cut bits?
Most of her books are well the best books you’ll read! This book fell short of that perfection level but is still excellent.
Of course I will be preordering the next one the moment I can and hope she writes forever. She is a fantastic writer but her two fantasy worlds are the best in the supernatural or fantasy genre in my o pop unio.
