Unfortunately that has turned out to NOT be the case.
The Bad
This device relies on your phone for 99% of the work. It requires both constant GPS for location data PLUS the microphone is always listening as this is what is used to detect shots (the sensors you place onto your clubs simply omit a high pitched sound when they are taken out of the bag).
This is why you need to keep the phone in your pocket at all times. This is no doubt the reason for all the bad reviews surrounding consistency of shot detection and battery life because these things rely exclusively on your phone.
Here are the problems
---------
Phone older than 12 months?
Chances are your phone will run out before the round is over.
Phone microphones not powerful enough?
You will miss many shots
Phone microphones have dirt / fluff?
You will miss shots
Too much ambient noise?
You will miss shots
Trouser pockets too deep?
You will miss shots.
Trouser material too thick?
You will miss shots.
Playing early morning/early evening?
Sensors rely on light to activate them, so you will again miss shots.
When you read into how this product actually works, it's way too reliant on your phone to do things a phone isn't designed to do - it's really no surprise the behaviour is so inconsistent and varied between users.
Software
------
If you do get it to work, there are more issues. Firstly, most people (such as myself) will buy this for the strokes gained stat. Bear in mind the real strokes gained is a database compiled by Mark Broadie with millions of data points. Arccos use their own database so who knows how good that data is.
But they don't use SG, they use some bizarre handicap system which assigns you a handicap based on your performance. In practice I liked this idea but it's heavily flawed.
A recent round ranked me 4 for driving, 6 for approach play and 30 for chipping. My chipping stats were 4/6 up and downs and 9ft proximity on all other chips. I play off 5 and my chipping wasn't on point, but I don't know of any 30+ handicapper who would achieve these numbers. This is also a common complaint.
**Also note, the software is behind a subscription model. If you stop paying the $99 each year you will lose all your data** This isn't made very obvious but should be noted.
Hardware
---------
Covered the device itself above, note again that they require ample sunlight to work so dusk and dawn rounds are not possible.
Also note the battery life is approx 2 years and the battery is not replaceable, couple that with a $99 yearly subscription and it paints an expensive method to track stats - and that's if it works.
Summary
---------
Every round I have played the device has missed approx 30-40 shots. Almost all of these are chips and putts, though it's missed some 120 yard wedges on occasion.
I have tried different phones, phones on the belt, phones in different trousers and it doesn't really help.
Even if it was working normally (normal appears to be about 5-10 shots missed) I really don't think I would keep it, the stats are just too out of whack with reality and unbeknown to me there is no way to mark the location of the pin (unlike other systems) so all your approach, putting and chipping stats are completely made-up.
Proximity to the hole in chipping is crucial, as is the % of putts made at certain lengths.
Amazon now have my returned unit.

On the course the app found the course quickly and off we went. By about the 3rd hole my phone was really hot in my pocket and had used about 30% of battery. By the 14th hole the phone had died and didnt manage to capture the last few holes. Logged in and spent about an hour sorting out the putts etc. Annoying.
Read all the tips from arccos about battery drain. Turns out they have a huge problem with android, strange that isn't mentioned before you buy the product. I'm very tech savvy and have a new phone with a decent battery (Samsung Note 10). I implemented all their recommendations and went out for a second round. By the 15th the phone was dead again.
The worst thing about these is the awful noise the things make when you take the clubs out the bag. They scream like little dog whistles. Forget chipping in your warm up or taking your clubs to the range, everytime you pull a club out it emits this high pitched whine until it pairs to your phone or gives up trying. Using the microphone to detect these sounds is such a flawed system.
Read about the common problems before you buy, especially if you use android.
I've returned mine. 2 stars is probably generous.

I would avoid these never helped me and setting them all up took to long and was not worth the bother. The one that broke first was the putter sensor, the reason being you use that club every hole. Then next was my driver and I gave up at that point.
