Highly recommended. Extremely well put together and enjoyable at the same time. I wish this book was around when I started my travels 15 years ago. It would have saved me a few mishaps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thorough, Practical, & Inspiring Guide to Navigating Long-term Rentals 1 August 2016
By Shannon - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
This is a detailed and practical guide laced with great stories from the authors' experiences. It's laser focused on helping would-be travelers navigate the often confusing task of long-term rentals overseas. I'm a long-term traveler but have only occasionally navigated long-term rentals so I learned about the process and the best way to even begin looking at planning a long-term vacation rental.

The book is structured to guide you through the process, providing practical advice learned from their own years of experience in the process. It starts with how the authors were able to design this type of life. Then it walks readers through the process in a logical order from start to finish. Anytime there's a section that generates a lot of common fears or confusion for travelers, they offer solid advice and resources to overcome them. And with renting overseas, there's a lot that can go wrong throughout the process. Any time there's a potential place for glitches, they point it out and offer advice on clarifying and avoiding these areas.

This book is ideal for those travelers and retirees who are new to the long-term rental process, or overwhelmed with the options. Even as an experienced traveler, they presented some interesting ideas for how they navigate the joint task of both traveling and renting. This book teaches a lot of tips to ease the process and make sure you have a smooth transition overseas. It's clear, thorough, and an immensely helpful resource for those looking to set up a base for months out of every year.
5.0 out of 5 stars They Have Thought of Everything 15 November 2016

Jack and Carrie have made an art out of snowbirding. In Another Cocktail Please they share their expertise in escaping the harsh Canadian winters for warmer climes. Of course they cover the big stuff such as choosing a destination and finding a long term rental, health insurance, bank cards, and using your phone, but through their years of experience they have also learned to look for things most of us would never think of, like backing up your computer files, or finding your medication in a foreign land, or will you need to bring towels and bedding to your little slice of paradise?
This is the ultimate resource for anyone looking at long term travel, covering the home you are leaving behind and the home you are headed for. There are tips on ways to assimilate into your new temporary home, avoiding almost every headache that could arise, and even how to make a perfect Margarita. Handy check lists and helpful websites are included to make sure you don’t forget anything as you follow in their footsteps to becoming seasonal nomads.
5.0 out of 5 stars Another Cocktail Please - Essential for the Long-term Traveler 8 February 2017

We found "Another Cocktail Please" just in the nick of time! My husband and I recently rented our house out for next winter with a plan to spend three months in Spain. That was the easy part. We had no idea what to do next, but Jack Janssen and Carrie Trip brought us this little gem of a book which answered all of our questions (and some we hadn't thought to ask). We now know where to start in the real estate search, how to negotiate the rent, what to do about transportation and telephones, and even what to pack! And much, much more - all related in an entertaining way with real-world examples and plenty of personal stories. This really is "The Essential Guide to Long Term Vacationing." I don't think there's any question I'll have that won't be covered by this well-crafted book. I'm hanging onto it for dear life and buying it for a couple of our friends who want to try out this inspiring lifestyle, too.
