5.0 out of 5 stars A truly different perspective.
By Sarah on 18 February 2021
I am lucky enough to know the author personally and receive a paperback copy of the book to review.

This book was so much more than a romance. I was addicted from page 1 and could not put it down! I was told this book was a non-fiction re-telling of a historical romance story - However I found this book to be more of a non-fiction re-telling of the other side of World War II from a German's point of view.

I can't say I have read many non-fiction books that tell the story of World War II from a German soldier's prospective as it is truly sad to read how many of the German's (or Nazi as they were called) did not want to fight or were simply so young they had no idea how to fight. It was also so interesting (as well as sad) to read about how effected the German families were that not only lost their fathers of the families to war, but also most of them losing everything they owned for just being a German. A truly different perspective.

This story was truly touching, heart breaking and real. The author wrote his grand parents story in such a raw way, that my heart truly felt for all their challenges they have faced in such an interesting truly dramatic and traumatic life. 5/5 Star read.
