Gabe had a dream military career until his fellow soldier and lover was killed in Afghanistan, leaving him broken.
Fate puts these two characters together in Las Vegas and there is instant attraction.
Gabe wants to rescue Autumn from her terrible life, but she finds it hard to trust anyone.
This story had a fairly implausible plot and the people were not relateable or even lovable. I tried to like this book more than 3 stars, but I couldn't.
I could not stop reading.....telling the kids, just one more chapter....then all of a sudden I'm at the end.
I don't want to ruin it for others, just know it's sooooooo worth the read !!!
The characters were complex and well developed. Gabe is a retired military captain, now part of an escort service with some of his military brothers. Autumn is a housewife trapped in an abusive marriage. Fate throws them together, and there are instant sparks. But Gabe is still grieving the death of his first love, and Autumn is watched constantly by her abusive husband. Can the two of them come up with a way for Autumn to escape and start a new life?
This is my first book by Kimberly Knight, and I was impressed! It was an excellent read, and I will definitely be recommending it to my friends. The excerpts at the end of the book already have me looking forward to reading more of Kimberly Knight's books! I can't wait to jump into the next book!
I reviewed this book on behalf of A Book Lover's Emporium book blog.

I finished Angels & Whisky with a happy sigh.
An insta love story.
While Gabes journey to finding love again is about moving forward and overcoming his nightmares which is heartfelt, Autumn's journey is about facing her present living nightmare.
I was instantly pulled into Gabes story, a man in love serving In Afghanistan with only 6 months remaining of his service. In one night his reason for looking forward to his future vanished.
Autumn was married to a controlling, abusive husband and a powerful man, everyone saw what he wanted them to see while Autumn saw the real Rich.
Gabe first meets Autum in one of two places she is allowed to go, Starbucks and not only is he instantly drawn to her but he also see's her bruises and feels compelled to help her.
The day Autumn forgets to cover her bruises is the same day Gabe comes out of his Whisky haze, his coping mechanism and the same day his eyes are opened again. Fate intervened for both.
A steady paced read told in dual pov's with no heavy angst or drama, contains hot scenes and occasional humour. I loved the main characters and extended characters Brandi and Jackson.
Angels & Whisky is heartwarming story that I enjoyed.

Unfortunately I just didn't get on with this authors take on it at all. Gabe was supposed to be a big strong alpha male who had served his country and suffered in the process. For me he came across as a one dimensional character without that much backbone.
Autumn has made a huge mistake in marrying a man who turns out to be a complete control freak who physically & mentally abuses her. She should know better than anyone not to trust people at face value. Yet within days of meeting Gabe she is acting like a pathetic little female with no free will of her own. A victim again.
Won't be buying anything else in this series.
Army Officer Gabe Hastings has the the love of his life in Alyssa, but when that Love is tragically cut short, Gabe turns to whiskey an women swearing he'll never love again.
Autumn, is in love with Rich, a man who loves her, treats her like a princess and has never been happier, but Rich is not who he seems, turning violent towards Autumn, she now fears for her life and is too afraid to leave him.
When Autumn literally bumps into Gabe outside a coffee shop, they bought feel the electricity between them, As Gabe and Autumn begin get to know each other, Gabe notices bruises on Autumn's arms, Knowing Autumn is in trouble, Gabe swears to help her and protect her, but as they plot a plan to get Autumn away from Rich, and Gabe finds out just who he is, will it be too late to save her?
A story full of Love, Passion, Heartache and a real chance at True Love. Gabe is definitely a man every woman wants strong, sexy and would do anything to protect his 'Angel' and Autumn a sexy and sassy woman who just wants to be loved, another great book from Kimberly, I'm never disappointed in your books.
This is a powerful and gritty storyline, which is emotional, gut-wrenching, with twists which ensured I was hooked and captivated throughout. Kimberley is one of my favourite authors, and I highly recommend her work for all readers. Cannot wait to read the next book in this awesome series.
Gabe is so broken and honestly I wished I could have reached into the book and given him a hug and tell him that everything could be ok! He is a fabulous sexy male lead and he has a huge heart, but he just simply needs someone to chase away his demons (and the whiskey) and show him how to love again. I really loved him as the broken man looking for someone to come along and save him. Sigh…
Then along comes Autumn, a brilliant leading lady who a bucket load of issues of her own. Yet her problems give Gabe a way in to help her and also help himself.
This has been a really emotional and thought provoking book and once again Kimberly has nailed it. We have the right balance of romance, desperation and the back stories of both of the main characters leave you reeling but rooting for them to end up with the happiness they both deserve. It is an emotional journey and one that deals compassionately with some deep yet real life issues. This is most definitely another five star rating from me!
