I bought this movement and sound monitor based on a friend’s recommendation over a year ago, and I am here to recommend it to others because it is truly a must-have. The one thing I found to not be very accurate is the thermometer. It sometimes shows a higher temperature than the actual n the room.

The base unit (Baby unit)
The parent unit (with rechargeable batteries)
Parent unit charging base
The movement sensing pad.
2 power adapters (one for each unit)
4 rechargeable batteries (for baby unit)

Shaped like an angel, with two ‘wings’ for buttons on the sides. One turns the unit on and off, and the other turns on a very soft night light in the plastic ring (halo) on top of the unit. There is also a thermostat in the child unit that will tell you what the temperature is in baby’s room. You will need the power adapter to be plugged in at all times, but in the event of a power outage, the unit takes AAA batteries that will keep it running. If you completely lose power (batteries died) and the connection is lost between parent and child units, the parent unit will start beeping and vibrating (this will also happen if you turn off the child unit while the parent unit is on).

Has 5 buttons and a small screen to give you the various indicators based on your settings. It also has a speaker that allows you to hear your child (One way audio – you can’t talk back through it). We’ve never had a problem with the battery charge time, but also, the charging dock makes it convenient to set the monitor somewhere to be on and charging at the same time.
The initial set up is quick and easy.
- You are able to choose a minimum and maximum temperature at which the parent unit will vibrate and alert you that the room is too cold or too hot.
- You can choose to have continuous audio (the parent unit will stay on and you will hear the white noise coming from the room). OR
- You can choose a sensitivity level for the microphone, where the parent unit will go into standby mode (silent) and it will come back on the moment any noise is heard in baby’s room. (This is how we use it)
- You can change the channel both unit connect through in case you hear any interference on any channel.
- You can turn vibration on or off.

In order to get this working properly, you will need to get a small wooden board to place the pad on UNDER the mattress. The manual gives you the specifics and Angelcare sells the wooden board, but you can definitely get/make your own.
That being said, here is what I think about the pad: If you are like us, chances are your baby will be sleeping in a basinet or a Pack n Play until they are about 6 or 7 months old, in which case, you will not be able to movement sensor until then because it HAS to go under a mattress.
After our baby turned 7 months old and moved to her crib, we were more relaxed and never bothered using the sensor, but still use the monitor daily (13 months old now).

Hopefully the attached video can add clarity to my words here. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
