Product Description

She's breaking the rules. Again.

An archivist in the heavenly library, Sara must follow protocol when it comes to curating the knowledge of the universe. But "liberating" an ancient text from the collection of a human—an Australian drug lord—could save a boy's life. Sara has no way of knowing that one of the man's other treasures is a sexy-as-sin djinni, bound by a wish to guard the estate.

He's only following orders.

Filip is compelled to turn over intruders, even celestial ones, to his master. When he catches Sara in the library, he isn't above indulging in some sensual kisses with her, or using her to trick the mobster into wasting a wish. It's what he must do to preserve his facade of freedom and protect his heart.

But the kidnapping of the drug lord's daughter forces Sara and Filip to work together—bringing out the hero that lurks within the soul of the djinni, and the passion within the angel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Read 9 February 2011

Format: Kindle Edition
Sara is the archivist in the Library of Heaven. When she discovers a rare and valuable book in the earthly library of an Australian drug lord, she knows she must liberate it to save a young boys life. She knows it is breaking the rules, but she looks to the greater good of saving the boy. What she doesn't know is that one of the other rare treasures held by the drug lord is Filip, a sexy and attractive djinni, sworn to protect all property of his master, no matter what.

When a fanatic kidnaps the kingpin's only daughter, Filip is torn between his attraction to Sara, and his duty to his master. As the story unfolds, the daughter learns what her father has done, and Filip and Sara join forces to rescue her, and save the man who kidnapped her from the wrath of her father. Can an angel and a djinn find common ground? Can Sara and Filip find a way to free him from Solomon's curse? Will there be a future for them, together?

Jenny Schwartz has written a delightful twist on the theme of `good overcomes evil' with a combination of magic, charm and modern evils. The characters are well developed, and the locations are true to life in the descriptions.

Sara is bored. Yes she is an angel, but not conventional by any means. She takes risks, trying to help others. She is smart, and loyal, and determined to save Filip, even if it's only from himself. She is an innocent, but she knows she wants Filip. She is honest, and doesn't fool herself where he is concerned. I like her attitude, and her determination to save everyone.

Filip is a djinn, one of the children cursed by Solomon to serve mankind. He is pragmatic, and believes he will never find freedom. He is strong and protective, and determined to keep Sara free from Vince's clutches. He is handsome and sexy, and avoiding romantic entanglement with the angel. But there is a core of goodness in him, one that Sara can sense.

I enjoyed how Ms. Schwartz combined modern time and life, with the myth and magic of long ago. There are several surprises in this, where paths cross unexpectedly, and add to the overall feeling of closure and lead to a wonderful happy ever after for the angel and the djinn.

4.0 out of 5 stars review posted at Heather's Blog 10 January 2011

Angel Thief by Jenny Schwartz
* I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

Angel Thief is more than just a tale of good vs. evil, it's about the choices we make as human and the consequences of those choices. A drug lord's daughter is kidnapped for revenge and he orders his djinni to rescue her while he plans an attack on the kidnapper.

Filip is used to being at the command of others, he is a djinni. His is a life of servitude from one master until the next. In history, only 1 djinni has been freed from his bottle and Filip is ok with that until he meets Sara.

Sara works in the library in Heaven. She loves her job but is bored and has started sneaking old texts to try and find a cure for a young boy that is dying. She knows she's breaking the rules but she is sure the reward will outweigh the consequences. Her quest leads her to the library of a drug lord that is guarded by a djinni.

Sara is inherently good but naïve. She wants to help people and is not afraid of the punishment she will receive if caught. She wants more out of life and feels alive when she has a purpose. She is drawn to Filip and doesn't understand her reaction to him; he is sexy and makes her feel things she has never felt before. She is willing to risk everything to help him save Jay, the drug lord's daughter.

Filip is bound to his bottle and his master's bidding. When he finds Sara in the library, he is compelled to take her to Vince. It goes against everything in his being to turn her over to Vince, especially after he has had a taste of her but he has no choice. He is not inherently bad but has done things he is not proud of because he has to do his master's bidding.

I was pulling for Sara and Filip to find a way to be together, despite the obstacles they were facing. The chemistry between them was evident from the beginning, even though they came from two different worlds. They worked together to save not only Jay but Kahn too.

This story is so much more than just a story. It's about love, redemption, forgiveness and the choices we make in life. Sara has faith in humanity and in the end, it pays off and her dreams come true. For the first time in his life, Filip begins to dream about love and a future, not tied to his bottle.

Overall Angel Thief is a refreshing story that helps restore our faith in humanity and love. I give it 4 Flaming Hearts.

4.0 out of 5 stars An inventive twist on the genie in a bottle! 16 February 2011

4 Stars! Jenny Schwartz delivers an inventive take on the genie in a bottle, with a very angelic twist! I was pleasantly surprised with how many twists and turns there were while still being a novella. Getting into the story took a few chapters, but once I did I was certainly addicted Angel Thief!

Sara is an angel searching for a cure for a sick little boy. The said cure is apparently hiding in drug lord's collection of books. Filip is a djinni ordered to protect the library. When Sara runs into Filip, sparks fly, yet Filip is still duty-bound to bring her to his master. Then his master's daughter is kidnapped, and another wish is used. Will they be able to save the daughter as well as find a cure for the little boy? And where could the attraction between a djinni and an angel go?

Quickly paced, high tension, and unexpected turns all make this novella one heck of a ride! Now I need to go back and read the first novella in the series, The Price of Freedom, to see what happens to another djinni, yay!

In Angel Thief, Jenny Schwartz creates a short story about compassion and redemption sprinkled with a little bit of lovin'. This paranormal romance begins with Sara, an angel, stealing into a library of a drug smuggler to find a book that holds an anecdote to cure a little boy with life-threatening bone illness. While in the library, she is caught red-handed by a djinni named Filip. The sparks fly between them from the inception of the story. An unlikely pair, djinni and an angel, are thrown together on journey that ends with love, redemption, and hope.
