3.0 out of 5 stars Main Female Character a Disappointment 11 January 2015
By Renee C. - Published on

I did not enjoy this book as much as the first book in the series (The Devil in Denim). Part of it was the main female character, Sara. For a woman that had enough strength of spirit to join the military and learn how to fly helicopters in combat, she was written as a bit of a whiny, chicken-shit person. Sara's behavior in the book seemed erratic, being the physical and sexual aggressor in the first interaction with Lucas and then a shrinking violet who was afraid for anyone to find out about her romance. This book made me hesitant to read the next book in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love this series 6 January 2015

I absolutely love this series. And not just because I'm married to a baseball player. ;)

Lucas and Sara could not be more different. He's a surgeon who wears beautiful suits and she's a helicopter pilot who served in the Army. And yet, they're perfect for each other. He gets her to let her hair down some and she loves him for who he is, not for how much money he has in the bank.

Even though I'm not a huge fan of stories that start with a one night stand, I like how Scott develops Lucas and Sara's relationship. He woos her and ends up earning her trust. And as much as Sara wants to be independent, Lucas is her knight in shining armor.

A great couple, fun secondary characters and lots and lots of romance. I can't wait for Lawless In Leather.
4.0 out of 5 stars Delightful second installment 10 June 2015

Between the funny female heli pilot and the hot doctor slash part owner of the New York Saints, Angel in Armani was both fun and hot, and included characters from The Devil in Denim to my pleasure. Sara and her father’s company was having a lot of financial trouble, but one guy wasn’t really going to change that, or was he?

The politics of baseball was on the forefront in Angel in Armani, but the human relationships, and especially the fragile bond between Sara and Lucas had its place as well. Even with their strong attraction to each other, Sara thought he was completely out of her league, and she also didn’t want anyone to think she had become the New York Saints’ pilot because of personal relationships rather than her skill.

As the story progressed, it was easy to see why Lucas always kept so busy, his mom especially was not a woman I’d like to cross paths with. The great friendships between Lucas, Alex and Mal, were well done, and I loved how the other guys had Lucas’ back when it came to Sara. The beginning of Sara and Lucas’ story was fun, because they ended up having to stay in a small motel room together… and then Sara left in the morning before he woke up, taking his rental car to get back to her helicopter.

Written in third person point of view, past tense, Angel in Armani permitted me to get to know both the main characters and the secondary characters quite well. Mixing sports with romance works very well for me, and I can’t wait to finish up this series with Lawless in Leather.
5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the Money 6 April 2015

After I read the first book in this series, I had to buy and read book 2. I already preordered book 3. I love series about ballplayers/teams, doesn't matter if it's hockey, baseball, football, etc. This series starts off different because it's about 3 previous ball players who buy the team. So in this book it's about Lucas, who is a doctor, and Sarah, who is a helicopter pilot. They are attracted to each other but they keep it professional. Then Lucas gets the idea that he needs his own pilot to get him to his patients/surgeries and back and forth to the team's training. Sarah is a great character and has lots going on in her life at the time. I loved Lucas from Devil in Denim and only loved him more with each page. Great story and I cannot wait until the next book, Lawless in Leather. My favorite character so far, Mal, gets his story. These books are kind of pricey, but they are worth it.

This is the second in the New York Saints series. I liked the first one better. This one was a good read just not as good as the first one.
