Excellent product, well designed and packed with features, a good choice for indoor monitoring. I found this delight to install and use. Connected mine to the router using a network cable, rather than WiFi, using a the TP Link mains line adapter twin pack, and the included patch cable, simples and more stable than WiFi. Added to the network easily, configured easily, excellent quality video, live view & recording locally its HD, remote viewing (over the internet etc..) its not HD but still very good. Mic and speaker works well, as does the Pan, Tilt, Zoom, night vision I would say is perfectly OK, but I have seen better on more pro gear. PC software is great and very easy to follow and tweek settings once you get going, adding to ipads and phones was a breeze also, the motion sensor for recording works well and is easy to set up, with me the default all area coverage was ideal, video play back is quick and easy to run and typically in 8 minute chunks. I have an sd card inserted for local recording storage, but this would be lost if the camera ever got pinched, so next buy is a NAS box to plug on to my router , as these do see and will record to your NAS. there is a free (limited) cloud service that will upload your recordings, looks OK but not for me. I mounted mine on the ceiling using the handy bracket, if you do this, you will need to flip and mirror the video using the settings in the menu.
Having tried unsuccessfully with a number of different IP Cameras to get the email alerting upon motion detection working to no avail decided to pay a little more than I have to date for this device.
Am I glad I did - absolutely !!................. Its not without its little niggles though but I am sure with more playing I will work it out.
Pros :- Simple basic setup, viewing the camera within 2 mins No need for port forwarding or router changes to view from outside your own network Excellent quality picture Feature rich browser/web interface Excellent build quality Very professional camera Motion sensitivity settings by area (ie can have high sensitivity on a door for example and very low on the wall next to the door if like me you suffer from sunlight reflection from outside setting off the sensors. Full remote control over 3/4G and wifi Zoom capability
Cons: There is an issue with the IE and Chrome plug in for the web browser access. This is due to it being based on NAPI which is deemed prone to exploits hence Microsoft and Google have dropped support. Firefox works fine, its just is you dont want to use Firefox you will have an issue viewing the camera via a browser. Amcrest need to update to a new plugin for IE and Chrome support (hence dropping a star above). Not managed to get images saved to the app yet upon alarm, have succeeded with video recording and image by email but for some reason not with stills to the app. I think this is me though not finding the correct option in the many settings for this device.
I bought this camera to alert me with a clear image by email should movement be sensed and this camera delivers that with excellent quality. This device is also capable of much much more which I am just finding my way around - I would buy again !
Review Update - 15 June 2016. Having used this camera for 3 months successfully camera decided to no longer send alerts when connected via wifi which it had done for 3 months. Tried everything, upgraded firmware, reset factory defaults to no avail. Plugged in to RJ45 and worked immediately. Returned camera to Amazon for refund which they did without issue. now unsure what to do about a replacement.
Cons: 1) The web or Android interface is much better to control and setup this camera than the PC software, which quite frankly is rubbish. 2) To save files from playback mode you must first convert them, which is odd, as they are saved as mp4 on your SD card anyway?? This can be done easily in the software but seems like an unnecessary step.
Pros: 1080p, Infinite focus, powerful digital zoom, PTR control, Can set up scan patterns, very clear in colour at night in well lit areas (no need for night vision), in fact there are far more Pros than Cons. For around £80-ish it is a good value 1080p 360-degree Pan and Tilt, Wifi, ONVIF Compatible, NVR and NAS compatible motion detection camera. Oh, it also does FTP although I had difficulty setting this up. Brilliant camera.
UPDATE: After almost 2 months usage now I still stand by what I said above. HOWEVER - the PC camera software closes randomly. The provided web viewer also does the same. I haven't used the Android software long enough to know how stable that is. On that basis, would I buy this camera again? The price has increased considerably (September 2017 now @ £101) since I purchased it and for that price a resounding NO. There are 1080p pan/tilt cameras with much better software out there for less money. Although there is plenty of third party software for IP Cameras, for the price the software provided should work as intended. I would not recommend this product based solely on price and software issues.
i ilke this so much i have already recommended the amcrest pro hd one to 14 neighbours and co workers as i feel these are to date the best overall cameras iv tried (iv tried over 50 as i provide cameras for abuse survivors) this is easy to set up it has good 2 way communication and remote view is crystal clear and to be honest im just waiting for my next payday and im hoping to get a few more of amcrests cameras to try and play with and possibly even theyr nvr
Great quality camera, wouldn't set up over wifi (had to use cable) but once configured worked superbly. Liked the iPhone app and after a successful trial cloud subscription upgraded to paid. Problems with the cloud subscription lead to a timely re-fund from customer service... All good quality and service so far.
Only problem is after working all weekend the alerts stopped working, then after several hours re-setting, re-configuring, etc the camera just won't connect any more.
Now returning for a refund, worked really well, may try a second unit as I liked it so much.
Second camera working great... Rating updated to reflect an overall excellent product.
I initially bought this to go in my porch, but it was a bit too bulky for the location. After buying a smaller camera for that location I decided, possibly rashly, to fit this outside, under the eaves of the roof. I initially fed the power through an upstairs window, closing it on the cable and hooking it up over wifi, I didn't think it would last that long.😂 However, 6 months later and it is still working flawlessly hooked up to my Blue Iris system. I decided to run the power and a network cable to it and now, nearly 18 months after fitting it under the eaves it is still working fully, pan, tilt and zoom all good. I wouldn't advise fitting one outside as I have, but if you didn't know it was there, you would never know it was there. One bit of advice for the PC software. I use Chrome with the internet explorer add in with the required graphics addon installed in that, the image is spot on.
A nice neat well made unit, and very quite when panning and tilting, it produces a very good image as well, the range is good to as my router is about 10 Meters away from the camera the WIFi signal has to go through 4 internal studded walls with the camera only 300mm of the floor. The night vision is quite good, l only use the camera in the lounge to keep a eye on my dog so the distance it projects is enough for me. l think this is a super unit for the price.
These cameras are amazing! I have a professionally installed HD CCTV system and I was looking for a Onvif compatable wifi camera which would connect to my NVR. I brought one to test and I was so impressed with it I have now purchased three in total. The Amcrest mobile (Apple and Android inc PC) is rock solid and 100% reliable.
I would love Amcrest to make an outdoor/waterproof version.
anyone looking for a wifi camera with PTZ and two way audio look no further.
Got this in the black Friday sale and to be honest it would have been worth paying full price. nice bit of kit with a decent enough picture. Great for keeping an eye on your pets when your abroad connects every time!!!!
High quality product, arrived on time the next day. Although it is a little complicated to setup fully for recording and motion capture, the camera provides crisp high-definition imagery and can record to multiple media including the cloud. I considered the Nest camera but this is much better value and does a lot more.
