I love that we got stages of both Catherine and Cross life together and how the main characters returns from previous series really made this book worth wild for me!
I love that we got to experience the high school life, struggles, challenges faced whilst trying to become your own person all at the same time. Cross was a stand out for me, he know what he likes and hates and he's just being honest about it!
I'm interested to see how Catherine turn's out in the second novel, does she become anything like her mother or discovers her true self.
I loved that Cross was the stronger character of the two, and understood that he loves her so much he just had to left her go and get the help she needed. Hopefully she finds her way back to Cross.!
Cross and Catherine are a couple that don't have it easy, but no matter what their love for each other never fails.
I enjoyed this immensely!

Catherine was also raised in a mafia family and the expectations that others hold for her are high. She doesn’t want to disappoint any but in the process her choices lead her down a dark path which will not only hurt her but cause Cross to become collateral damage as well.
This is the beginning of Cross and Catherine’s love story that will cover the period of time between high schools until they become adults. At time their story is painful and heartbreaking and although you may question some of their actions you can never question their love and devotion to each other and it leaves us wanting more of this couple and their story.
I fell for Cross immediately. I was team Cross the whole damn book, attitude & all. I loved his unconditional love for her. Catherine drove me a bit nuts, her choices seemed questionable but she was likable for the most part. But Cross......he was special.
This reads like an epic Mafia young love book. Get your Kleenex out for the end. Cross & Catherine will shred you. Looking forward to the next in series. So many things to resolve but I believe in their love. Great writing. Great supporting characters. (The whole gang from various other other series) Recommend.
Seriously ended this book a sobbing mess!
Bethany-Kris is my go-to author for anything mafia or cartel related. She writes so beautifully and everything feels so original and authentic that I totally fall into this forbidden world. Dante Marcello made me laugh out loud so many times as the real daddy issues pop up! I can only imagine his treatment of Cross is exactly how every single daddy out there wants it to go.
Cross is head over for Catherine and has been since his first sight and no Don of the Marcello Cosa Nostra or Cat, the former Queen Pin will stop his love. I loved everything about this first love, coming of age book. I adored Cross's near disdain for authority and anyone who tried to control him. He always, ALWAYS, told it how it was, not matter how hurtful or brutal, it was. He was honest to a fault.
Catherine, however, she was good at hiding and keeping secrets. I could relate to Catherine more than I wanted to. This book deals with some heavy stuff. Hover, Bethany-Kris tackles it as perfectly as it can be. I love getting snippets from other people I've read about. They ending of this book... well, keep tissues handy! It's heartbreaking and so relatable! I didn't think it could be possible for me to love Bethany-Kris's stories and words more than I did but with every book she puts out, they just get better and better.
