Rose Goldman has been highly unpopular in the little town of Halfway ever since the 'attack' she suffered as a small girl, which left her scarred - internally and externally. Now, people and animals are terrified of her without knowing why. However, life takes a turn for Rose when a new teacher starts at Halfway High. Mr. Stone, the quirky and charismatic English teacher is twice Rose's age, but she feels an unexplainable pull towards him. Despite her better judgement, Rose pursues a friendship with Mr. Stone who seems unable to stay away from her. What is pulling this unlikely pair together?

I CANNOT believe that I was able to force myself to stick with this to the end. Let me tell you why you should skip this one.

The writing is awkward, halting and juvenile.

The "love scenes" are insipid and atrocious.

Last but not least, EVERYTHING in this book is a dead give away. The "big secret" at the end was obvious from the very beginning. The title gave it away, for crying out loud.

Don't waste your time or money.

I read that some readers were upset at the age difference between the characters and the fact that the H was h's teacher.
Since she was 17 years old, almost 18, and seemed mature for her age I did not have a problem with it. For me, student teacher romances are a guilty pleasure and I will read them as long as the book does not involve things like abuse, kids that are too young or pedophiles. I have teenagers and would never be ok with them being with their teachers. However, there is a lot of things that would not be ok for me or my family, such as S&M but that I can read about without a problem.

I enjoyed reading this book. The pace and the book's length was good. I was not bored and read it in one sitting. I like the main characters, especially the H. He tried to do the right thing but was too drawn to the h, for a good reason. The ending was unrealistic but then again, it is a book and not life and a paranormal romance and so I had not problem with it. I was a HFN ending as opposed to what I prefer which is a HEA. There are more books in the series and am looking forward to reading more about these characters. In the end I am hoping for a HEA for them with no separations and no OW or OM. We will see.

About Book

A Student/Teacher Paranormal Romance. (NOT Y.A)
OUT NOW!

Seventeen year old Rose Goldman is highly unpopular in the little town of Halfway. Ever since the 'attack' when she was a little girl, people and animals have been afraid of her. She gets bullied in school, and called 'wet dog' because of the way she smells, despite being extremely hygienic. However, life takes a turn when a new teacher starts at Halfway High. Mr. Stone, the quirky and charismatic English teacher is twice Rose's age, but she feels an unexplainable pull towards him from day one. Despite her better judgment, Rose pursues a friendship with Mr. Stone, who seems unable to stay away from her. What is pulling this unlikely pair together?

My Thoughts

Let me start off by saying that this is a new author for me and I did enjoy her current novel.

Rose Goldman is a young teenage girl of seventeen who has been bitten many years ago on a family outing. Rose is basically a loner with not many friends an very a shy person.I have to say that Rose for me was a character that you had to warm up to probably for me was due to her aloofness making her not such a like-able character. But, once we get to know Rose you will feel differently. Can you imagine the pressure of such a young girl dealing with changing into a werewolf once a month with no guidance from any one and really not knowing what truly is happening and why?

My favorite character was Mr. Stone he was truly a kind and loving person. He really was responsible for the growth of Rose's character throughout this book.He is the one person who will help Rose grow to be a more confidant person and have more of a true understanding about who and what she has become.

Characters that I didn't like were Rose's parents.I found them both to be unlovable and very selfish people.

This was a cute and sweet romance that developed between and student and her teacher Mr. Stone.I think that some people will be put off by this because of ones moral thinking but, you also have to realize this is a work of fiction and not a real situation .Also this is a situation of Roses experience for the first time as her true self as a wolf and a Alpha one at that. They are stronger than any others .Mr Stone happened to be a werewolf who was attuned to Rose with feelings of want and need towards her knowing in his right mind he should stay away and fight these feelings he has. That being said Rose could not help the way she felt about Mr. Stone either she had the same attraction toward him as he had for her.

This was a journey of a sweet love story that developed between a couple .Also a journey about discovery of ones true self. Two strangers came to together and were able to heal one another with there love for one other.

Found this book to be a fast paced read. The story was engrossing that kept you turning the pages as secrets come to light for both couples and we experience the dangers together that this couple is experiencing in the now and the future.

I have to say that I was rooting for this couple to find true love that one deserves knowing there plight was going to be a difficult one and the obstacles that this couple will have to face if they want to succeed at being a couple.

My one pet peeve of the story was that I found Rose to be a little selfish at times.I could understand her feelings for Mr Stone and what she felt for him but, she never realized that of the trouble or the outcome of what really could happen if they relationship were to come to light. That being said it could just have been because she was experiencing love for the first time and just got caught up in the romance and two that she was a Alpha wolf ( to be a bit overpowering)as that is there true nature. So no matter or how long and hard Mr. Stone denied himself Rose would have won in the end due to her true nature of being born a Alpha Wolf.

I can only imagine what I must have been like for Rose after being bitten and what her fears must have been. What anxieties she must be have been experiencing every month. How lonely it must be for her to keep to herself not letting anyone truly get to know her because of her affliction in the hope she might not come to harm others because of it.Not understanding what is happening to you an why?Feeling your all alone in the world with no one to understand you or someone to talk about what you are going through. What the cost of keeping this secret must have been like and what would happen for fear of discovery should it come to light. My heart truly bled for her and what she must have gone through.....

An infectious read not to be missed.I will be looking forward to the next installment to see were Rose and Mr. Stones adventure will lead them.

4.0 out of 5 stars she is not 14, she is 17, and a Werewolf 31 March 2014

Someone mentioned this read on a forum that I frequent daily, so I 1 clicked. Half way thru I took a break to go back to my forum and held my breath. Lots of readers were upset about the age of the h. A misunderstanding of course. I dont know about other readers, but I have read a lot of books where the h is a lot younger than the H.
In a lot of historicals the woman, (or girl) is often very young. A lot of times the H was a widower and is much much older that the h. I know that this story is supposed to be modern day, but it is a paranormal. Just thought I would get that part out of the way.

So, it starts when the h is in high school and will be 18 in 3 months. She is an outcast if you will. Enter the new teacher. She is attracted to him and never has been attracted to anyone before. Turns out he is attracted to her too. He is 32 and knows he should stay away, but there is a very good reason why he cannot.

I enjoyed the story. I wouldn't say this book is YA. There is boinkin. Not much though. There is a HEA with no Cliffhanger.

4.0 out of 5 stars Book Review: Alpha Girl 8 April 2013

A guilty pleasure that was so enjoyable that I found myself not wanting the story to end. This was one of those books that you really found yourself empathizing with Rose's situation in a lot of ways as her life is anything but picturesque. She has a lot on her plate and tries to juggle it until a man comes into her life that will change a lot for her.

You as the reader are immediately drawn to Rose as she is not well liked by anyone. Has very few friends and then has to deal with her mother and father not being around. This causes her a lot of problems because she feels that they don't love her or care for her as they should. Not to mention she was attacked by something in the woods when she was younger and now becomes a creature once a month.

Rose, through out the book wrestles with a lot of bad things. Yet, when Mr. Stone comes into her life, things change in such a dramatic way for Rose as she starts to want things for herself. Plus the fact that these two spend a lot of time is really interesting. The relationship starts off as her just being friendly and vice versa.

Yet things get mighty interesting between these two when they realize what they have an attraction to each other. This attraction is heightened when they realize their affliction or condition is what they both have. This makes them feel more connected as they realize that they need to keep everything on the down low.

Rose's life is much more complicated when her parents decided to finally get a divorce. In some ways this drives Rose to take much more drastic action with Mr. Stone. The love scene between Rose and Mr. Thomas Stone was very intense and riveting. I felt that the chemistry was so spot on. Yet there are so many fast moving things that happen after this, it was like oh no, oh yes. OH GOD No. These reactions are what keep me going in a book and make me want to read faster.

So many things happen that they are not what you expect would happen. Things are different for them now that both of their futures are not what you thought they would be at all. Yet Thomas Stone goes to jail and then escapes because of his condition. Rose finds out that there is a pack somewhere in Alaska thanks to her mother doing some research.

Rose and Thomas do get back together in the ending. Yet the ending left so much open for the next book in this series. I felt that this first book certainly packed a lot of things, but can't wait to see what happens in the next book.
