I really did not enjoy this book. I don’t like to be critical as I know there must have been a lot of love and work on the author’s part, but despite growing up in Australia in the 50’s and 60’s, the characters and story did not work for me.

Allegra in Three Parts has made me laugh and made me cry. The characters are beautifully developed - I miss them already! For readers who grew up in Sydney in the 1960’s this is a must read - reminding you of the good the bad and the ugly of your childhood. Beautiful written with an easy, endearing style. Highly recommended.

I loved this bookReviewed in the United States on 30 August 2019
This book is written in a quirky way, through the eyes of a eleven year old girl and how she views the relationships of her family and their relationships after her mothers death. The book is set in Sydney in the seventies and is like a trip down memory lane. My only criticism was I thought it was a bit rushed at the end - but I still really enjoyed it - thus the five stars!
