"An ultimately compelling exploration of teenage growth and young love."--Kirkus
In this lovely, lighthearted romance...readers will remember the Song sisters and the boys in their lives long after the final page turn.--School Library Journal, STARRED REVIEW
"Lara Jean's personality--goofy, awkward, prone to strong emotions, and entirely naïve when it comes to boys--give this touching story an individuality and charm all its own. Han creates a realistically flawed cast, especially half-Korean Lara Jean and her sisters, who work hard to be good to one another after their mother's death (even when they're at one another's throats)."--Publishers Weekly, starred review

Jenny Han's To All the Boys I've Loved Before Playlist
For every book I write, I create a playlist that I go back to again and again to help transport me into the story and into the main character's mindset. The To All the Boys playlist is a blend of songs that Lara Jean would listen to, songs that remind me of her, and songs that score certain scenes in my head.

To All the Boys main storyline focuses on her romantic relationships, but the real core of the story, the real heart is in her relationship with her sisters. There are a lot of chapters dedicated to their relationship and how their relationships change, as they change. When I finished this book, I kind felt like not a lot had happening, that it was all highschool drama, but when I stepped back and thought about it, I realised this book has a lot of heart, and it comes from those family relationships, not the romantic ones
I did also notice though, that there were a lot of cliche characters. Now I'm not really one to turn my nose up at a few cliches. Cliches have become what they are for a reason. But I do find them a bit harder to connect with on the page. There's not as much that special about them. Lara Jean is the 'not-pretty but actually pretty' awkward teenager, the main man is the best looking guy in school, and is jock (but he's SO much MORE than that), he has a crazy ex girlfriend who's the prettiest girl in school..... you get my point.
All in all, while I found some parts a bit slow and it's not going on my 'top books of all time' list, this was a really nice light read.
Would recommend to anyone who loves YA contemporary and enjoys sweet, fun reads.
Thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait to start the second book 📚
