Product Description

Alexa Morgan lost her mother when she was two. At eighteen, her father and stepmother died when a devastating earthquake hit the Bay Area. Only one person has remained a constant in her life: Devin.

Devin has been Alexa’s best friend since childhood. The two are inseparable—or they were until Devin declared his love for her at sixteen. When Alexa can offer him only friendship in return, Devin retreats, brokenhearted.

Alexa, on the other hand, longs for Ethan, the boy next door. Four years older than her, and with an ever-changing roster of girlfriends, Ethan is everything Devin isn’t: wild, sensual, and unpredictable.

In the aftermath of the deadly earthquake, Ethan makes his move on Alexa, who reciprocates in a confused whirl of grief and desire. When Ethan leaves town the next day, Devin comes back into Alexa’s life, offering support and expecting nothing in return.

Alexa begins to see the advantages of Devin’s quiet, stable love. Can she get past the friendship hang-up while trying to forget bad boy Ethan? It’s a choice that changes her life forever.

Alexa has been best friends with Devin since childhood. Her parents tell her there moving to a new area and she will be changing schools. She is crushed and has to leave her best friend. When she gets to her new house she falls in love with her new room and has a crush on the neighbor boy Ethan. Her parents know she has her first crush and tease her that he is to old for her.

Her parents are killed in an accident during an earthquake which turns her world upside down. During that difficult time you lean on your friends and family to help you through it.

This was a wonderful debut novel. I loved the story. It was very well written. The ending is awesome. This story could take so many different directions. I must know how its going to end, so I will be looking forward to next book in the series.

I was given an arc from Jo&Isalovesbooks review team for an honest review.

4.0 out of 5 stars well done 13 March 2015
By Book Happiness - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
The writing was very well done especially for T.R. Cupak’s debut, however, I think the characters needed a little more polish. Alexa and Devin's friendship from a very young age was sweet and I’m a sucker for “first loves” so I was super excited but when Alexa’s family moves away from her BFF Devin and she sees Ethan for the first time she gets her first taste of a crush.

Every interaction between Alexa and Ethan seemed like it was awkward, and rushed and the connection itself seemed forced. Ethan seemed to have a swinging door of women and Alexa had never had a boyfriend. There was a physical attraction from a very young age but no real interaction to bond them. It just didn’t work for me.

Devin makes his “more than friends” feeling known to Alexa but when she doesn’t reciprocate it puts a strain on their relationship and leads her right into Ethan’s arms. There are some twists and turns (you’ll have to read for yourself) that lead Devin and Alexa back together but just as everything seems like it’s falling into place for these young lovers Ethan reappears and the mystery continues with the Epilogue from Ethan’s POV. Looks like I’ll have to wait for book 2 to see how the story unfolds.

3.5 stars; **Complimentary copy received for an honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly Awesome!!!!! 12 March 2016

I received this ebook in return for an honest review.
Let me tell you this book will have you in so many emotions, and I loved each and every one of them. This has some mystery and love triangle for sure. You won't be able to put the book down.
Love Alexa, Devin and Ethan. There is parts of the book that my feelings weren't pretty for Devin. With Ethan they were mixed, to hate, to mix again. The epilogue had me with wtf because of the situation Ethan is in, and the whole thing with Olivia his mother. Also the whole top secret situation that Alexa's dad trusted her with, has me like "what is it" "I need to know now". All in all this book is a must Read, for sure. Because it left me with I Need book 2 now!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing first book for new author 5 March 2015

The book pulled at emotions on several levels. I was mad, sad, and happy throughout this story and was surprised at how the ending left me dangling.. I assume to set me up for her next book, I hope! There's definitely plenty mystery there to elaborate on in another book! Also the sex scenes are fun yet not cheesy or over the top. I read it all within 24hrs. Couldn't put it down! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Young adult dramatic romantic suspense at its best! 4 March 2016

Alexa Crushed by TR Cupak

I was given this as an ARC for an honest review

Stars- 4
Story is told in- multiple points of view and narrative as well
Series- book 1 of ?
Cliffhanger- yes

I would have rated this book a 5 if the characters were fleshed out more, as in knowing more about them. But don't let that stop you from reading this book!

This is a story about a young woman named Alexa and this book takes takes us through the years from age 2 to 18. This books really gets going after Alexa loses her parents in an earthquake during her senior year of high school.
Her best friend Devin has fallen in love with her and on her 16th birthday tells her, Alexa does not feel the same way towards him and in so many words she tells him. She doesn't hear from him again until the death of her parents, when Devin and his parents show up at her door.
Ethan is the bad boy next door that she's lusted after since she was 12. But we also get the feel that there's also something dangerous lurking next door. He's 4 years older than she is and in a strange way we sense that he's attracted her. There's something "off" about the family next door and we're getting a small glimpse to it.
The love scenes are beautiful written, like those of first love should be. The suspense ratchets up and we've no idea about what is going to happen next. Trust me, you too will feel a bit creeped out by the cryptic text messages and the way the neighbor Olivia acts towards Alexa and her boyfriend Devin.

I really did enjoy reading this young adult dramatic romantic suspense and I have to say that I am hooked! I want to read more by this author!

4.0 out of 5 stars Alexa Crushed First book in a Series 16 March 2015
By Michele Ficht - Published on
This is a coming of age story about Alexa Morgan, a young woman who has crushed on her next door neighbor Ethan, who happens to be 4 years older than her, for years. Alexa also has a best friend named Devin who has been there for her, until the last couple of years after she moves away. The day she finds out she is accepted to Stanford, tragedy hits her family. Ethan is there when her life changes. Devin re-enters her life the next day and they rekindle their long-time friendship, or is it more? Does Alexa pick Ethan her crush of many years or does she pick Devin her longtime friend who just happens to be in love with her?

Although I do not normally read Young Adult books, this book is well written and would be enjoyed by anyone who reads this genre. This book is part of a series and you will want to know what is going to happen next. There are many things going on not only between Alexa and her two men, but other players in this story. I recommend this book to anyone who reads Young Adult or New Adult fiction.
