Product Description

Safe and comfortable. That about sums up Chloe’s life. Meeting a tall, dark stranger covered in tattoos is not in her plans. Bad boys just aren’t her type – even if they are gorgeous and built like a brick wall. Her internal alarms warn her that Aiden Hunter is definitely on the list of men her mother told her to avoid, but she doesn’t listen. Instead, she finds herself drawn to Aiden and the excitement he promises.

Near the beach in Miami, he occupies her days with thrills and her nights with passion she’s never experienced before. She knows he’s hiding something from her, but Chloe pushes away her concerns and embraces this new way of living.

As Aiden teaches her to live life to the fullest, Chloe battles the internal warnings that tell her to be wary. By the time she realizes her fears may be justified, it’s too late.

Aiden’s past is catching up to him, but is he the hunter or the hunted?

This is a review based on how I felt about the book and at the moment it was just ok for me. There were aspects of the book that really annoyed me... like the "alarm" going off in her head and her posters of superheros - how old is this person?
I did not relate to the main female character (see above) and she was a little insipid and annoying and uptight for me. The hero was ok but I struggled with the relationship development and just connecting in general with this story.
A lot of things just grated on my nerves. 2, ok stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not what I'm used to from this author but still good all the same.... 9 December 2014

This was a little different. Not bad, just different than what I'm used to from Shay. I prefer her books from the male POV but that's just my own personal opinion. The story was good, the characters were great and of course the leading man was yummy. At this point I'm not sure there is anything Mrs.Savage CAN'T do. She's on my very short list of authors that are an automatic buy for me. I love everything she has put out. This one wasn't my favorite but I still really liked it and would absolutely recommend it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Where is My Shay Savage... 25 December 2014

...that I fell in love with? I loved the idea of this book. I also happen to be one of the few that didn't have a problem with the heroine. I see a lot of my younger self in her, so I know her "judgements" just happen to be what she learned. The problem I had was...I like the super intense guys. Saving Raine and the Evan Arden series were right up my alley, this guy was too gentle for me. I also had a deep issue with the loss in this book.

In my opinion the idea of losing a child is not something you can just throw into a book. If I don't feel like my heart is being ripped out the connection is not there (for me). I need to feel highly invested with the characters and mourn the loss of their child - I didn't feel that with this book and because of that I just was left...empty.

4.0 out of 5 stars Aiden is alarmingly HOTT! 12 December 2014

4/5 stars

Chloe Ellison lives a normal, safe, predictable & boring life working a job in Ohio, with a boss that doesn’t respect her and sucks the life out of her. When she meets a big, tattooed, muscled, and extremely hot guy, her internal alarms go off, warning her of danger, but at the same time, she shuts them off and takes a chance. He isn’t the normal type of guy that Chloe goes for, but nothing about what she is feeling is normal…it is so much more.

Aiden Hunter has muscles upon muscles and tattoos covering almost every inch of his body. It has been years since he has let anyone in to see the most caring parts of himself. But he immediately has some feelings for Chloe and wants to take time to explore them. So, on a whim he invites Chloe to fly to Miami and stay with him on a vacation.

During that vacation, Aiden opened up Chloe’s eyes to the life that she wasn’t living and the world that was just going on around her. They grow closer and closer. Chloe knows that Aiden is hiding things from her, because he freezes up when being questioned or just deflects all questions. She fears that he may be a criminal, but just doesn't know.

Things get a little haywire, and both Aiden & Chloe have to work at keeping their relationship going and being there for each other. It may take them a little while to find their grove, but as with all relationships, communication is key.

This isn’t the norm that readers have come to expect from Shay Savage, since this is her first book that is told solely from the female POV. I have to say, I really missed the male POV that she usually provides. That’s not to say that she can’t write from the female POV, because she can, but I prefer the male POV.

I found some parts of this book to just drag on. The amount of time that the heroine spent in her head was more than a little bit too much and I sometimes found her annoying. She seemed to border on being socially inept at times as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars good story with likable characters 9 December 2014

Everyone has their preferences and I love stories with jealous, possessive heroes who are very in love with their heroines and pursue them as opposed to the other way around. I initially read this book because I had read two of the author's books Surviving Raine and Offside and enjoyed them a lot. A few of the reasons that I enjoyed Surviving Raine and Offside lot is because besides a good story, the heroes were not cookie cutters and they were jealous possessive and totally in love with the heroines and not afraid to show it. They were also IMO unlikable until they met the heroines, who helped change them for the better. The hero in Alarm is different from the heroes in those two other stories. While he is not cookie cutter, I have read stories with heroes like him before. Also he was not unlikable before or after meeting the heroine, rather he was negatively impacted because of a bad experience and temporarily damaged. Also even though he fell for the heroine, right away and was protective, he did not display any jealously. However this was a good story that kept my attention the entire time. I stayed up way too late reading it. I felt empathy for both Aiden, the hero and Chloe, the heroine. While her experiences were not terrible, just unpleasant, it left a mark on her. It was pretty easy to figure out why Aiden was the way he was and I believe only Chloe insecurities that kept her from realizing what happened to Aiden. While I liked the HFN I would have enjoyed an epilogue that was at least 5 years into the future to confirm that Aiden was still doing well and recovering.

Okay.. It has taken me way too long to be able to finish this book. Technical difficulties with my Kindle App resulting in me getting a new Kindle E-reader (Which I'm lovin) But I was Finally able to get back to this beloved book & I must say I was beyond pleased with this one.

Those of you that are familiar with Ms. Savage know that she is known for writing the best Male POV's that dominate the books very well. So me reading this book strictly in the female POV, was a bit odd, but still, I think Ms. savage did an excellent job with it. What made it work for me was even though it was in Chloe's POV, you still were shown through her eyes the intensity of the story & the mystery surrounding Aiden. So I didn't really need his POV in this book. The fact that there was a lot of dialogue as well, helped a great deal too. But the type of story this is, the mystery surrounding the Hero, I get why this was only written from the female's perspective. If we got his POV it would have ruined the mystery surrounding him.

This book isn't what I would call non-stop action intensity, but there is an underlining tone of violence, & violent occurrences that do help bring the story full circle, but the meat lies in the emotional intensity between Aiden & Chloe. And the way that this story was executed, I must say I didn't need the grand, nonstop adrenaline action here. There is action, but like I said it's not central to the story.

Aiden- My goodness! I was in love with this dude the moment I met him & nothing changed this for me over the course of this book. I was dying to know his dark secrets & when they were finally revealed I wasn't disappointed. I just... LOVE HIM! He's hot. He's beyond hot. He had me blushing & sweating & thinking all kinds of things. But he's sweet too. And when his story came full circle, coupled with all that I got from him in this book & added to how he was with Chloe I just loved him even more. I shed tears for him when I finally knew what his deal was. He's definitely my "Book Boyfriend"

Chloe- was a bit harder to like. She's not TSTL by any means. She just borderline obsesses ALOT. It's right on that line where it's almost completely annoying, but at the same time it's not. Because of who she is & how she has led her life up until meeting Aiden, & all the mystery surround him, her questions, thoughts, & worries were valid. You can clearly relate because you know if it were you, you'd be asking yourself or wondering the same things. So you couldn't be angry with her about it. You just kinda wish that she would just get the nerve to approach the subject(s) with him. Cos you're dying to know what his deal is too, but you're also dying for her to shut the heck up about it as well. LOL

But Chloe definitely grows on you. By the end of this story I was very proud of her & how she came full circle as well.

Her and Aiden just complimented one another well, IMO. I loved watching their story unfold. It was intense, intriguing, erotic, sexy & beautiful.

So yes, I would recommend this read.
