It’s an easy read and in many ways follows the classic pattern of the genre. However, the BDSM element was dealt with in a much more intelligent way than other popular fiction that has attempted to incorporate the underground world of fetish into a romance.
This knocks the socks off ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ in my opinion! It is set post the Fifty Shades furore, in fact the main character, Kate, has read the book. She is an intelligent young woman who has her own financial stability and seeks to reconcile her feminism with her submissive sexual desires. The author deals with this which is important as it’s an issue that a lot of women (and men) experience when wanting to let go and explore power exchange.
The story also touches on the very real threat of misunderstanding and judgement of BDSM and the harm that this can cause. It also has some genuinely steamy scenes!
I generally find romantic fiction rather cheesy and predictable, as I say, it’s not my favourite genre, but this is one I can recommend for anyone wishing to dip their toe into the world of fetish, bondage, dominance and submission. Sexy!
She has definite late night fantasies about the good doctor, but as he's a really good friend of her father, she knows nothing can come of it and leaves him in her dreams.
She's doing a paper on BDSM, the culture and the lifestyle for her Masters degree and has been in contact wi Mistress Lara, whom she is hoping will find her a suitable Dom to interview.
Sat in a cafe, waiting to meet the male shes going to interview. Imagine her surprise, and complete mortification, when the man who walks in is none other than Drake Morgan MD, himself.
What Kate doesn't realise is that Drake wants her just as badly as she wants him.
But is it enough for her to give herself completely over to him, and sign... The Agreement?
As a grad student her research involves writing pop culture for a newspaper but as part of her research she decided to look at the role of BDSM and the lifestyle. Convincing herself that her article is no big deal. It was just research for an investigative article and has absolutely nothing to do with any personal interest. During the course of her research she comes across a letter from a Dom to a sub. This piques her interest and arranges to meet a Dom who will show her all she needs to know about BDSM for her article.
What Kate didn't know that the Dom she was about to meet was somebody she already knew. Kate is mortified and her vanilla- instincts kick in but she can't resist his determined seduction and begins an intense relationship with Dr Delish that pushes both of their boundaries.
This was a well written story that provided an honest portrayal of Kate's journey into the world of BDSM. The BDSM element does not define this story and some of the scenes are very vanilla and didn't get into the extreme scenes that some BDSM stories produces. Some of the scenes are hot but are nothing "out of the ordinary".
Her writing is strong and I found it difficult to put the book down once I got into it.
Highly erotic The Agreement is a love story with a difference - an exploration of the human relationship of pleasure, passion and emotion . Power exchange with a difference.
