I read the Zion Covenant series many years ago and had a hard time remembering the details of who was who, and what happened when, with this book. I wished I could have found a synopsis for the Zion Covenant series somewhere. (Vienna Prelude is on Facebook, but not the rest of the series.) I found the way the diary kept jumping backwards and forwards, somewhat off putting in the beginning - especially as the formatting is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. Commas, circles, squares, stray letters appear on almost every "page" and new paragraphs start in the middle of a sentence. Then when it jumps to a different year, there is no new paragraph at all. I very nearly gave up.
However if you can get past that (Amazon you need to fix this!!) then it's a good read though sometimes laborious. I found the ending very strange though and couldn't quite believe I'd come to the end of the book, with no explanation of what actually happened. I wonder if the authors are going to address that in their next book - somehow I doubt it, seeing book 1 dealt with a different set of characters.
