CLEVERLY INTRIGUING

What an intriguing, mind-boggling read! Seven Days in July is told in an interview style, with all the action coming from the characters' conflicting versions of events. Everyone has a different take on what happened to Emma's father - some say he fell off a cliff, others say he was pushed. As everyone tells their version, more and more questions open up for the reader, leading to a final 'Who do you believe?' moment. So clever!

Right from the outset, Emma is set up as an unreliable narrator, but by the end, has she been set up? Or is her version the false one?

A gripping psychological suspense tale that explores perception and the 'two (or more) sides to every story' concept in a page-turning manner.

The book is a remarkable account of events surrounding the death of a business man on a family holiday on a Greek island. The mystery surrounding this dysfunctional family makes thrilling reading.
This is Kerry Wilkinson at his very best.
In a break from his usual style, it is so cleverly written that it reads as non-fiction documentation.
So intriguing is the narrative that, having finished the book, I had to go back and reread the interviews and I am still unsure of my conclusions. The characters are very believable and the book so beautifully crafted that I could believe it to have actually taken place.
I read this as a preview copy, thank you Kerry. I am now listening to the audio version and finding it hard to put aside.
If you only read one book this year ‘After the Accident’, is the book to buy.

I was privileged to read a review copy of this book by Kerry Wilkinson. I really enjoyed the way it was done. Although there were statements from Emma and all involved it still told a story and it flowed

I found Emma the main character fascinating and considering what she had been through I thought a lot of how she handled the time with her family and still considered how her behaviour would affect them particularly her mother, was a credit to her. No one really considered how Emma was feeling.

Kerry took a series of statements and they told a story. It was like following a series on TV you couldn’t wait to get the next episode. How he described each character made me feel I knew them and I could visualise them all round the table having dinner. This was another great book from Kerry. He never ceases to surprise with what he writes. Definitely has the prospect of a series or film in future. A must read

I’d read a few reviews saying this book had no ending and it almost put me off reading the book, I’m so glad I ignored those comments. I thought the book was fresh and clever - written in an unusual interview style and with a strong but small cast of characters with clear distinct voices. I liked Emma and the twins but didn’t warm to Bethan, Liz or any of the men.

If you like books with very neatly tied ends, even if these ends have to be contorted in the last few pages in order to tie them up, then this book won’t be your style. If however you are OK with a level of ambiguity and mystery you’ll love it.

I read this during the autumn of 2020 when a lot of real life crime dramas were airing on mainstream TV and I think that helped me feel fine with the unusual ending, real criminal cases often leave unanswered questions and discussions over motives and intent just like this novel.

All in all, I’d thoroughly recommend this if you feel jaded by all the same old, same old thrillers out there, this is definitely new and original.

My only gripe was how the interviewees sounded like they were in the same room at the same time as they commented directly on answers made by others as though it was a dialogue. The author tried to explain this but it jarred a bit if you thought about it too much. Other than that I was quite happy.

After waiting with bated breath as I usually do for Kerry Wilkinson 's next both I at first didn't know what to make of it

It was not the usual style of novel he writes and must admit was straight with the first chapter or two. But as usual Me Wilkinson drops an intriguing piece of bait and I was hooked !

I like a story with a good narrative that carries the reader along and the author is excellent at this ,even making the location of his stories An important character of the story. He goes away from this tested and successful formula but it works amazingly well.

I got hooked big time and loved it. It's an overused cliches but I couldn't put it aside !I

READ IT YOURSELF and see what I mean .

One thing I have to say is "I want to see the movie" ( That will become clear when you read this fantastic book!

I’ve read lots of Kerry’s books and until now every one of them has been a five star read. This book too was heading for five stars. Although written in an unusual way (a series of statements after an accident) it was as usual for Kerry a page turner that I read very quickly wanting to see who was to blame for what (there is more than one mystery going on here). However there was no round up, no conclusion, no ending and no satisfaction. It won’t put me off reading more of his books because I’ve loved every one up until this one. If this is your first Kerry book don’t let it fool you. His others are brilliant - and they have an end!
