Product Description

Learning to trust again is the hardest thing to do.

Ana Perrot is crazy. Crazy about sex, and pleasing her lovers. She is passionate and as fiery as her red hair. She eats men like air. She is also willing to submit to any man anywhere. But outside of the bedroom, Ana is an independent woman who lives her own life by her own rules. And, her biggest rule . . . she won’t do long term relationships. She refuses to fall in love . . . again.

Teddy O’Rourke is an easy going, laid back Tampa bartender at one of the most popular clubs in town. All about family and enjoying life including all the women that throw themselves at his feet, he has no problems finding willing partners. His football player body, his personality, his warm hazel eyes all ooze sex appeal. He is the perfect package in every way for a woman like Ana, well for any woman really. An ex-cop, his instincts tell him Ana is one hell of a woman, but she is wounded and scarred by the past. What are her secrets? What will make her trust him? Why is she so afraid to love?

A one night stand, that is full of surprises for Teddy, opens his eyes to new possibilities. A single man enjoying his freedom meets his match in the bedroom, and elsewhere. He sees a future with Ana, a counselor for troubled youth. But could she be persuaded to fall . . . and to trust again?

I actually didn't even realise that this was the second book in the series so while I will go back and read the first one because I really enjoyed Afraid To Love you don't have to read them in order and this could simply be read as a stand alone.
Ana has been hurt in love but occasionally her attitude annoys me, yes we have all been hurt but to simply treat all men like she does because of it is a little selfish even though I can understand and on occasions her character does grate on me.
Now Teddy on the other hand I loved he has played around but as soon as he meets the one he knows and he goes for it with everything within him, occasionally he could be a little more sensitive but I think he deals with Ana's issues very well.
I also loved Teddy's family who couldn't help but love a family like that, I really felt for Monica Ana's sister and I loved Lou her friend.
One of my favourite lines sums up the book for me too I think "Family was who you let love you ... Family came in all shapes and sizes, you just had to let them in. You just had to have hope."
A well written and enjoyable modern love story that has some heat amongst the emotion and a message that is about family and love that is ageless.

4.0 out of 5 stars intense and enjoyable 10 July 2015

Ana & Teddy's story is full of promise. Ana has been terribly hurt in her past relationship, and so she lets sex lead the way. No strings, no real 'relationships.' And then she meets Teddy while out w/ her sister (Monica, whose story is book 1 in the series), and they start out as just her usual sexcapades. Very quickly, however, she realizes that Teddy is different, and their relationship grows and blossoms. Teddy has some stuff in his past, too (I LOVE his story, even tho it's heartbreaking), of course! The way they work through things is very well plotted, I thought! And the last chapter... awww!

This story is also QUITE up w/ the steamy times. Ana & Teddy do a lot of ... experimenting. ; )

My only complaint, I guess, if you could call it that, is that the writing style is a little stilted. I've read other books by this author & I LOVE them, and their writing style seems to be smoother, so it could be because these were written earlier? Regardless, I did enjoy Ana & Teddy's story! : )

5.0 out of 5 stars wow you need to read this book 28 March 2014

You have done it again MJ with an amazing read! I loved Ana in fire in his eyes her protectiveness over her sister. In afraid to love we still get the fiery and fun loving Ana.

But we also see how her past and secrets keep her from truly opening up to teddy. Teddy has his own secrets but when they do come out it's not what you would expect. He also didn't reveal this part of him because he was ashamed but that it truly slipped his mind and didn't matter.

I loved this book. Not only did it bring real issues to the table but show you that love can get you through it all.

My favorite line in the book is when it's said that " you dream of a family, but family, my dear, comes in all kinds of forms, shapes, sizes, colors, genders. Family is the people who love you,and who you let love you in return."

That alone is such a powerful statement and touches the very deepest part of ones heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do NOT be Afraid to love this book! 16 April 2014

- I read this as a Beta reader for MJ, and I have to tell you this book is amazing! I love the storyline and the plot thickens throughout. We first meet Ana in Fire in His Eyes when she takes her sister out for a night on the town. Ana is a fiery red head with the personality to match, and she plays the game by her rules. Until she meets the man that changes everything.
Teddy is the hot bartender at the club where they go to dance the night away. Have a little fun, but he is the last thing Ana expects to sweep her off her feet. She was looking for a night of fun, but what she gets will leave her running scared. Will Teddy be able to help Ana realize she is someone worth loving? Or will Ana Always be afraid to love?

Afraid to Love by MJ Nightingale

Ana Perrot is thirty-four, she’s single and loving it. She doesn’t believe in relationships just really good sex. For the past ten years this has worked for her, none of her partners have ever complained.

“She liked them a little younger anyway. They were easier to control and more readily agreed to her conditions, her rules.”

Teddy O’Rourke is almost thirty-four. He has been a bartender for the last ten years, he enjoys it and it more than pays the bills and there’s really no stress involved. He enjoys women but he’s never been in love.

“Ana had been with many men, but this man by far had the best body she had ever seen.”

I met Ana and Teddy in book one, Fire in His Eyes, and liked them then. Now I LOVE them. I wish I could meet Teddy. The way he is described in this book, he’s takes good care of his body, is very well hung and no woman has ever not been satisfied. The sexual attraction between these two is INCREDABLE. The fact that Ana will do anything in the bedroom adds A LOT of spice to this story. The situations these two encounter are real life situations, not the same old misunderstandings in most romance books. Ana deals with some deep emotional issues that stem from her past and the issues Teddy battles just make me want to hung him and cry. I would have given this book a 5 star review if the editing had been better. I give this book 4 stars with 4.5 hands down the pants.

“Size did matter, It mattered a f*#ing lot! Exclamation point! Thank-you very much!”
