This is quite a volume and I suspect that most people won't last the course, as a considerable commitment is required, whereas the average attention span nowadays is somewhat short. I purchased the book in 2010, but gave up after some months. I think I was trying to achieve too much too fast. This is totally the wrong approach! Though I don't claim to understand that much about the process, I believe this book can take you to quite a high level of consciousness, and that cannot happen overnight!
I have now returned to the practise and this time am taking it slowly. After just a week, I already feel much calmer, have the sense that I am a better person for it. Now, I'm going to take it 'real slow' - I tell myself that it doesn't matter if I don't get beyond chapter whatever! Main thing is that I'm on the right path and going at my own pace. It really does make a difference but also requires a lot of discipline and grit.

About the Author
Yogani is the author of the Advanced Yoga Practices (AYP) system, including more than a dozen Instructional Titles available in Paperback, Kindle eBook and AudioBook editions, covering all aspects of Full-Scope Yoga Practice. Since 1970, he has crossed the lines between many traditions, developing an effective integration of methods including Deep Meditation, Spinal Breathing Pranayama, Hatha, Kundalini, Tantra, Self-Inquiry, and more. It is a flexible, scientific approach rather than a rigid, arbitrary one, and open to public scrutiny, as all spiritual knowledge should be nowadays. He has no desire for guru status - only to have the joy of making a small contribution to helping the disciplines of spiritual practice become open to everyone. He wishes to remain anonymous, preserving a quiet life in practices. AYP is not about the author. It is about all who long for knowledge. --This text refers to the paperback edition.

I would recommend all of the series from this author. If you have even a passing interest in any of the Yoga disciplines you will discover a mine of clear, relevant, helpful, easy to understand information. What you can do and the reason you do it. Read one and see, you will not be disappointed.

Just brilliant!Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 January 2014
The only advanced yoga book you'll ever need - well, others will offer some food for though, but this one contains a complete and straightforward method that takes the reader all the way from the basic level to the most advanced yoga techniques. It is written in a clear style, and doesn't get you lost in jargon or mystical mumbo-jumbo. It has done no end of good to my personal yoga practice - I only wish I had found this book sooner. I heartily recommend it.
Really worth itReviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 March 2017
Great book I absolutely love it. Goes into more depth than in the small teachings books.
