This is the story of a woman (woman) not a waif like virgin, but a woman who has led a life and is just now coming into her own time. She has some baggage, but who doesn't! She checks into a hotel for a week of relaxation and meets a desirable man named Marc and the sparks fly! I loved this book and can't wait for the next - the writing holds you spellbound to the last page --- and the story continues!
Great job Amanda!

A J Walters has done an excellent job!! This book leaves up to its name. You will love to imagine the beautiful scenary the characters take you, as you read this lovely story.
Isabell Chambers is a mother of two, that needs to take some time to herself and persuaded by her best friend she goes and takes a week off to relax and pampered her self or so she thinks!!
Meet Marc Sanders, an American sciencetist that has travel to England to do a presentation to the science committee at Cambridge University. With that important presentation to do, he's not looking to have a fling or a relationship, but everything can change once he meets Isabell Chambers.
When this two perfectly strangers meet for the first time, they feel the sparks between them. As they spend time together the last thing either one imagine was to fall for each other. But there is something bad lurking to break the spell Isabell and Marc have on each other.
The last thing Marc wants is to hurt Isabell but can he protect her from his ugly past. Or can the feelings that they have for one another strong enough to battle whatever comes their way?

5.0 out of 5 stars You will have "An Accute Attraction" to Isabel and Marc! 15 November 2013

I only just found AJ Walters. An Acute Attraction was recommended by another wonderful author, Cameron Lincoln. In that I enjoy his work, his blog and his humor, I thought if he says this was a must read, then I was going to read it. I am thrilled that I did! I loved this book almost from the very beginning. The biggest attraction and draw, the realness of Isabel, the narrator of this story. She is a single mother of two who has begun to find herself again after a long time. A good friend convinces her to talk a holiday. It is during this holiday that she finds Marc. It is at this point that I will stop as I wish not to spoil anything. I will tell you the intimate scenes between Isabel and Marc are passionate, steamy, and yet there is a sense of reality and humor, making them plausible. Know that while this is a work of fiction, Isabel is as real as they get. She is not the perfect model type nor is she the innocent that so often is found in today's adult contemporary, chic-lit, whatever you want to call it. Isabel has flaws and imperfections, as we all do, yet she is learning to embrace the woman she is, flaws and all. I truly enjoyed this book and so can't wait for the continuation of the story of Isabel and Marc!
3.0 out of 5 stars 2.5 Stars Tops! 25 July 2014

I am really about a 2.5 on this book. I enjoy a good British author, but this one fell short for me. I think the concept of the story was good, but I don't know that it was presented to the reader was very well. I love that Isabel is a full figured woman who has confidence and she gets this hot man, but there was just something lacking in their chemistry. She was portrayed well, but Marc was not.

I also thought it really needed better editing. I usually am not one to complain about the editing and look past most errors but there were quite a bit in this book. I am really surprised by the amount of 4+ stars for this book. I hated the weird “Americanized” wording too…do Brits really say Reckon? Trash liners vs. trash bags, I don’t know…I just think she could have done better with an American character, especially a polished Bostonian man he was portrayed to be. He even said reckon some and I could accept that from a Texan but not someone from New England. Just a little weird…

I did read the second book to this as well as I got this one for free and that one for .99 so if I paid for it I wanted to finish, but that is probably the only reason I continued with the story. I would have to say about the same for the second book. There will be a third about Marc’s step-brother but I do not plan to read. I hate to leave a bad review but I would not recommend this to fellow readers, there are other British authors out there that are killing it. Sorry!
3.0 out of 5 stars Just so so of a story that had my interest and then....not so much 25 April 2014

I guess I didn't like this book as much as other readers did but I found the story choppy and when something new was introduced, it just happened. I found the story line kind of disconnected and as such I just thought the book was ok.

Character development could have been stronger and more detailed.

The premise and idea for the story was good and it was nice to see the main character was realistic in terms of age, size etc but I couldn't get into the story as much as I thought I would and honestly, I could have skipped some chapters and still reached the same ending. The book had potential but in my opinion it felt like it just didn't flow smoothly.
