(A standalone Heartbreaker Bay novel)

There’s no such thing as a little in love . . .

Elle Wheaton’s priorities: friends, career, and kick-ass shoes. Then there’s the muscular wall of stubbornness that’s security expert Archer Hunt—who comes before everything else. No point in telling Mr. “Feels-Free Zone” that, though. Elle will just see other men until she gets over Archer . . . which should only take a lifetime . . .

There’s no such thing as a little in lust . . .

Archer’s wanted the best for Elle ever since he sacrificed his law-enforcement career to save her. Their chemistry could start the next San Francisco earthquake and he craves her 24/7, but Archer doesn’t want to be responsible for the damage. The alternative? Watch her go out with guys who aren’t him . . .

There is such a thing as . . .

As far as Archer’s concerned, nobody is good enough for Elle. But when he sets out to prove it by sabotaging her dates, she gets mad—and things get hot as hell. Now Archer has a new mission: prove to Elle that her perfect man has been here all along . . .

3.0 out of 5 stars Too much, yet not enough 4 February 2017

It was just okay. I'm not sure what it was about this book, but I wasn't a huge fan. I normally really go for the strong male AND female main characters, but this one was lacking. I think it was the lack of communication and there were too many elements to the plot (Elle's past, not talking with her family, sister showing up, attacked by sister's ex's goons, her love/lust for Archer but not wanting to admit it to herself, Archer's past, death of his mom, bad relationship with his dad, his job, his love/lust for Elle, but not wanting to admit it to himself) it just seemed like the author had a word quota and didn't know how to fill it with just Archer's and Elle's relationship and growth into love, so she had them already in love with each other, and they just had to admit it to themselves and each other. I found it a bit annoying and boring. I normally love Jill Shalvis' books and did really like the other books in the series, this one just wasn't for me. There was just too much going on, yet not enough relationship development.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 #TeamArcher Stars and recommendation! 26 January 2017

When we first met Archer and Elle in Sweet Little Lies, there was a hint at a shared past and I really couldn't wait too read their story. In pure Jill Shalvis fashion, Accidentally On Purpose, Archer and Elle's story, unfolds with panache. The combination of Elle's sassy and self sufficient nature with Archers all alpha male bad-a$$ery is just so wonderful.

Elle's one of those heroine's that is very easy to rally behind. She's overcome a troubled past, works really hard going to school and as an employee, and is a loyal friend. The decade old history with Archer reflects a time in her life that she keeps under-wraps. She's built a wall between her past and her present and she keeps her guard up for good reason. Archer, privy to her past, a part of her past, just can't seem to stop himself from interfering in her life. There's a camping trip where he teases her mercilessly, a date that he interrupts and a few bad guys to protect her from. Their story is action filled in and out of the bedroom (or office, or woods). He's so conflicted about her and how she fits into his sphere, into this group of shared friends, and this makes him a bit unpredictable when it comes to Elle.

The near constant battle for control made for a very entertaining read. I waxed between a cheesy grin and gasps of astonishment as the mystery came to light and we realize just how much they affect each other. It's not exactly a second chance love story, but it's the chance for these 2 to get it right and stop fighting their connection. Jill's writing is always stellar with sexy, smart, and witty dialogue (pay attention to the #chaptertitles), and story-lines that are well paced. I almost always need to finish her books in one sitting so I always plan accordingly. 5 stars and recommendation!

5.0 out of 5 stars Elle and Archer, finally! 25 January 2017

First, in the interest of full disclosure, I'm a huge Jill Shalvis fan. I always enjoy her books, but every now and then she outdoes herself. This book is one of those times.

Elle is cool, sophisticated, and in charge. Nothing gets under her skin, except Archer. Archer is a bad a$$ security expert, taciturn, stony, loyal. Elle is his biggest weak spot. But in spite of appearances, both Elle and Archer have pasts that are very different from their current lives, and while they never speak of them, they both know each others stories.

The two had been circling each other in the previous books in the series but in Accidentally on Purpose, they finally come together. Explosively! Both Elle and Archer had to face their pasts before they could move forward, and each saw their pasts differently. It was seeing themselves through the eyes of the other that let them move forward. A character like Elle could be too perfect, to untouchable to relate to. And Archer too hard, too cold. But Shalvis makes them both human, more than just their personalities, and I found myself rooting for them to succeed.

I received an advance copy of this book in return for an honest review, and I can honestly highly recommend it. It's going right to my to be reread pile. And while this is part of a series, the series doesn't need to be read in order. This works as a stand alone--but don't miss the rest of the series!

2.0 out of 5 stars Pass on this one! 31 January 2017

I really had a hard time liking the female in this book. She got mad about everything and constantly picked fights with the hero. I don't know how he even liked her but I guess with writers nowadays is if the person is good looking that is all that matters. Halfway through the book she tells him we will continue to have sex but not talk to each other outside of hooking up. What?!?! Kinda figured you would want to have a relationship with someone if you are sleeping with them. Just save your time and don't read!

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed 20 February 2017

I have really enjoyed every other Jill Shalvis book I have read. This book seemed to drag on forever and the characters acted as if they were in junior high school. I will try Jill's other books but this one I couldn't even finish.
