I should have researched the plot location before purchasing as I had trouble deciphering this strange American version of English. Expecting just a whodunnit but having no knowledge of USA rounders or baseball or whatever they call it I found myself behind the 8-ball from the start with strong knowledge of the game required to grasp the fine points. This was further muddied by the equally confusing world of American academia with it's bewildering names for class groups and customs. Battling through this I found the plot witty enough to press on with though overly long with a lot of irrelevant content early on. Should only be tackled by residents of the USA to be fully understood and appreciated in my opinion.
I enjoyed this book so much that I was sad to finish it. Full of twists and turns and wonderful surprises. The story was fast paced, unusual in it's intrigues and well developed characters. I stayed up way too late reading it, just couldn't put it down. Will keep my eye out for more books by James J Cudney - well done
Entertaining, great characters and a thoroughly enjoyable yarn. I didnt guess the murderer until late and i loved the main character. Kellan was as smart as he was humble and with a whole set of feelings that made him come to life. And the ending? Well, i didnt see that one coming. Read it.
