Shane Thoms is a photographer and photojournalist who studied at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication majoring in photography, screen and media.

Shane Thoms’s cross-cultural photographic work has been featured on the BBC, CNN, The Business Insider, Huffington Post and The Daily Mail.

His first photographic book, Haikyo: The Modern Ruins of Japan' reveals an enchanting and secret side of Japan that is seldom experienced by foreigners. From the hauntingly derelict apartment complexes of Hashima Island to the giant vine covered rollercoasters that twist through its many abandoned amusement parks - these modern ruins provide a visually rich contrast to a country known for the brightness, sound and movement that swells inside its many thriving metropolises.

His second book, 'Abandoned Australia' will be available worldwide via Jonglez Publishers in October 2019. Uncovering the modern ruins scattered over this arid, sunbaked continent, this publication reveals a series of beautifully broken abodes hiding in the crevices of the Great Southern Land.
