This was a confusing story that did not make a lot of sense. The silly Russian accent and a confusion bunch of characters leaves you wondering what this book was all about

I'm mostly a hard copy book type of person, but decided that I should venture into online books as there is more choices and more up and coming authors. Best decision ever on my first kindle book purchase, if I had stuck to hard copy books I would have missed this thriller! Engaging storyline, is got the works of good book that you just cant put down. Love to see more of works like this from Warren, even tho I have never heard of any books by you. But if this is anything to go by, I would love to read more!

I purchased this without any expectation, quite on the converse it exceeded all my expectations and the story line had me totally immersed! Well done. I was taken on a thrilling journey from the moment the story began and the thrill left me hanging for more. Very creative and the short reading is perfect for someone who likes a roller coaster ride.

Abandoned by Warren Craig Shan is a thriller not to be missed. Although the cover did not initially grab me the saying “Don’t judge a book by its cover” runs true. Abandoned is a thriller not to be missed.
When first introduced to Abandoned I will admit I was hesitant. A little girl sitting on a park bench did not do much for me. I was left wondering what the relevance to the story within really was, but I was soon to find out.
From the first page to the last page I was captivated. Coming in at only 172 pages Abandoned was a weekend read that I did not want to end. Listed on Amazon as The Saltire Saga Book 1, I eagerly await book 2.
The twist and turns of Abandoned took me to places I never thought I would go. It is an action packed book that has your mind whirring. As you ride the roller coaster called Abandoned you wonder if fiction could become fact and if life really is not as we see it.
Warren Craig Shan writes with strength and flow. Within Abandoned he has developed characters that you soon relate to, bonding on a level that allows you to ride on their shoulder page to page. Abandoned is the first book by Warren Craig Shan, showing he is an author to be watched.

So badly written I couldn't get past page 20, despite my best intentions, worst written junk I've ever read.

So badly written I couldn't get past page 20, despite my best intentions, worst written junk I've ever read. Wouldn't have got through basic english course let alone a higher level creative writing course. I'd be ashamed to publish it if I'd written it. Written by some pompous-sounding old fart.

Shocking. There was just no point to this story. I found the plot ridiculous! No where near as exciting as I expected

Missed opportunity - could have been great

Such a pity, the plot has a lot of potential and the author actually has a pleasing style of writing.
Unfortunately...
- there was almost no character development; I didn't hate any of the characters... nor did I like them, because the reader is given no insight into who they are. By the end couldn't have cared less what happened to any of them, including the main protagonist.
- the attempts at "accents" throughout the book were painful. There was no consistency, sometimes even in the same sentence; and why oh why does the background narrative have an accent?! If the author had stuck to only using this language in the dialogue, it would have been way less horrific.
- huge gaps in the story... not plot holes, it read more like authorial laziness to me. So many missed opportunities for actually developing characters.
I don't usually write reviews but I had to for this one. It's like a giant missed oppotunity for what could have been a great story.

A disappointment for this Scots lass.

I was actually very disappointed. I love Edinburgh and would have loved more authenticity with the city descriptions. I was hoping for something a bit more authentic in the vernacular, apart from the occasional "ye" which occurred in the same paragraph as "you" ... there was often no consistency. The plot was very obvious within a chapter or two. It wasn't very well written.
