To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
This is an excellent Laptop. It’s nice, well done an elegant. I’ve updated it to Win 10 Pro. At the beginning was getting hot like a potatoes but after install all the drivers and update the Bios is cool and running Normal. It’s Software is very useful. I passed some exhaustive test: cpu, gpu, ram and disk and have muscle to be among the first ones. I’m very happy with my investment. As I said it’s my first windows Laptop to use it in Astro Photography. I use to work in Imaging Editing and this little girl can do all my work. It’s a Rizen 9 with 16GB.
Constantly crashing since day one. Even tried to talk to Asus directly, but the computer kept crashing throughout the session. This happened on multiple sites on multiple days and even various sessions with Asus.
First off the laptop does not have a built in camera. Second there are only two usb ports on the device, meaning that if you wanted to use an external camera through usb you will only be left with 1 port to use if you wanted to also use the second port for a wire-less mouse. There is also no ethernet port built in for those who wanted to get the best out of their internet. You would need to buy a docking station/usb hub to get more usb ports and an ethernet port. With that out of the way let me talk about the actual performance of the system. For some reason ever since I bought this pc occasionally when streaming videos it would crash and the "blue screen of death" would appear. This happened on multiple times even when I reset the pc. The system is not very responsive, every time I open adobe to create a video the software stutters and lags while other applications seem to work fine at times. All in all please look at other varieties to save yourself frustration
I've been on the hunt for a good laptop and it was really hard to decided until I saw this monster. The power of this laptop, coupled with the fact that it's so small and portable makes it the ultimate laptop in my opinion. The purpose of getting a laptop is portability, and typically gaming laptops are gigantic and bulky making it awkward to transport.
Pros: - Light, portable - Metal Frame - Great keyboard layout - Incredible monitor - Handles any game I throw at it, at maximum graphics. I've played Eve Online, Destiny, Rogue Company, Leagues of Legends, and World of Warships with 0 issues. - Great for video editting
Cons: - Gets hot, which is understandable because POWER!!! - Personally I'd like 1 more USB port but that's me being needy, it does have the USB C Ports
If you're looking for a gaming laptop and portability is important to you, get this one.
The Problem: I have two major issues, first, the laptop will show a black screen (screen will shut-off) when the system switch from it's dedicated graphic card to it's built-in graphic card. Second issue is, it will randomly freeze, hang while I am working so I had to initiate a hard reboot.
The Workaround: To address the first issue, aside from installing all the windows update, I have to update the graphics card driver directly from from the ASUS website. But, for the second issue, even after updating all to the latest driver, it will still randomly freeze, the last time is when I am working on excel, and the most horrifying is while I am presenting to a potential client.
Bottom line: Since I cannot address the second issue, I decided to return this and look elsewhere. I really wanted to keep the laptop as the size and the specs is exactly what I needed, but since I cannot rely on it to work every time, I have to pass.
NOTE-: This model will soon be outdated by a new version coming in Feb/March 2021
I wanted to switch from my aging 2015 Macbook Pro to a windows laptop that can play modern AAA games as well as multitask easily. I got the spec with RTX 2060 max q design with 120 hzz screen
Pros- 1. If you value "portableness" and a sleek look, this laptop is for you 2. Everything is pretty snappy from booting up to opening applications, but that is expected with the powerful AMD processor this laptop packs 3. Ive only tried one game (Batman Arkham Knight) and it runs it flawlessly. 4. If you value privacy, this laptop has no built-in webcam so that could be a bonus for you 5. Keyboard is great, would be happy to type reports/essays on this. 6. Speakers are okay and FHD screen does its job.
Cons-: 1. With great power comes.... a lot of heat? The sacrifice with the sleek look of this laptop is that the keyboard area and above can get quite hot while gaming (plugged in of course). However, I use a controller to play but I can imagine having to game while using the laptops keyboard could be quite annoying. 2. Fans also get quite loud while gaming but I don't hear it while I have earphones 2. There seems to be some backlight bleeding on the bottom corners of the screen of my model, but nothing too bad 3. Having no webcam could be a dealbreaker if you plan to work with this laptop 4. The lid of the laptop is a bit wobbly, the only part of the laptop that feels poor quality
Summary- I valued portability, power and a sleek design when looking for a new laptop and the G14 provides all of that at a reasonable price. Also, I have the laptop plugged in mostly so I'm not sure about the battery life. If you don't value portability you could go with another laptop with a thicker chassis that provides better cooling and has a webcam.
This device is the best laptop I've ever owned. The performance, battery life, screen, are all incredible, especially the speakers - this sounds better than my soundbar, with the only thing I have to say about it being that the bass isn't going to blow you away. The screen is amazing, but not perfect - there's significant ghosting along even the most basic cursor trails and it's very noticeable. Still better than 60Hz though.
I've had one other really weird issue with my unit though that I just can't figure out. Randomly, while I'm watching YouTube in Chrome, the screen will freeze and it'll stop playing audio. A few seconds later, and the screen goes black. It's a hard crash - task manager won't show up, no keys or inputs respond. I've been troubleshooting for awhile and still haven't found a solution. While it is a rare issue (it is re-producable), this is something that shouldn't be present on a product that costs $1400. Still thinking about if I should return it.
