Product Description

The beginning of the end. The Apocalypse.

A nuclear fallout wiped out every living thing on the planet, except for a few thousand of us who took shelter in underground bunkers across the globe. Now, after thirteen long years, we were finally able to return to the topside to begin to rebuild.

We thought we were alone. We were never more wrong.

Before the fallout, scientists had worked on creating an anti-radiation vaccine (ARV). The first two attempts failed, but despite the incomplete tests and results, the government approved and distributed the third serum to the masses in an effort to aid those who had no shelter.

It worked, keeping those who remained on the topside alive, but it also altered and mutated them. This new and infectious threat had completely outnumbered us. Now, we not only had to rebuild our planet. We would have to fight for it.

My name is Abigail Park. I’m seventeen, and this is my story.

Cameo does it again! Another fantastic story from her! ARV-3 has all the elements of what I love in a good dystopian novel: romance, descriptions of what the earth is like, and did I mention end of the world type intense romance? Finn and Abi are so sweet together and those make out scenes were hot! I'm so glad this is a series because I would have not been happy with the way it ended.

I am in love with this book right now. This is how I felt about Cameo Renae’s other book, Hidden Wings, too. If all this author’s books are going to be like this, could they please come with a warning label?

First off, can I just say that nowadays it’s getting harder and harder for me to find a dystopian read that I thoroughly enjoy. I mean, it seems like everything has been done before to the avid dystopian reader. But ARV-3 was exactly what I love about dystopian books. Sure it wasn’t a particularly unique concept but it was addictive, action-packed and a little scary.

I’m one of those people who were fascinated by the idea of the world ending in 2012. I didn’t believe it, but for some reason the idea of it fascinated me. So when one of the first lines of the book I read was about that I kind of mentally fangirled. That was the moment I knew I would love this book *eyes glaze over dreamily*. And on the topic of awesome first sentences, let’s just say that prologue was pretty epic too.

I know what you’re saying: “Whoa, whoa hold up a second. If you love this book so much, how come you’re only giving it 3.5/5 comets. Something just doesn’t add up!”. Am I right? It’s because as a reviewer, I can not ignore flaws in a book, no matter how much I enjoy it. I picked up a few of what I’d call grammatical errors and found a couple of “holes” if you will. I will not specify the “holes” because I do not wish to spoil the plot for any of you willing to read it.

I love the world that this is set in! It’s actually pretty scary. And those rabid Arvies were known to send a few chills down my spine. It wouldn’t be complete without the main character Abi, though. She was pretty cool.

When we speak of Abi, we have to speak of Finn.

This book was simple and a bit repetitive in some ways but it had a decent storyline and interesting characters. It needs to be finished with a 4th book as the storyline isn't complete despite there being 3 books already but I will purchase the next one to find out what happens.

4.0 out of 5 stars Teenage Romance Despite The Apocalypse 6 April 2017
By Brian - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
ARV-3 has been on my to-read list for quite some time. It's that bio-hazard sign that sucks me in. This was the first book by Cameo Renae that I read, so I wasn't sure what to expect out of it.

ARV-3 (or anti-radiation vaccine) was meant to be their last chance of hope. The government was running out of time and wanted to save as many people as they could before radiation killed them all. Unfortunately, ARV wasn't fully tested on humans so they couldn't know what would happen. They couldn't have imagined what came next.

The story revolves around Abby and the people from her bunker as they try and survive underground and then again out of the bunker. Abby was your typical strong-willed female protagonist. She was strong, smart, and able to complete almost anything put in front of her.

The story itself was interesting to me. It wasn't much about the actual ARV mutation or virus or any of that but much more about the after effects of it. The post in post-apocalyptic.

My biggest issue with ARV-3 was what I would call "forced teen romance." I don't think this book was aimed at me (a male in my 30's) but a lot of the dialogue and romantic moments felt awkward and forced. Sure, they're teenagers and what isn't awkward at that age? But it was hard to follow at some points. Some of the characters seemed to have an off/on switch for certain things (not thinking about something ever in your whole life, to it being the only thing you can think of). While other things just felt "too good to be true". Ironically, this happened while the world was falling apart around them.

With that being said, I still really found myself enjoying the book. There were a couple times where I thought, okay, okay, come on, let's stop talking about the romance there are "arvies" all around you!

But, overall ARV-3 was a great story that we a little side-tracked by some teenage romance. I still enjoyed it and will definitely keep going with the series. The story itself drew a lot of parallels to other books and movies I've enjoyed which are definitely keeping me interested.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much more than I expected! 23 January 2017

ARV-3 was a totally new jolt in my dystopian journey. What a creation! I was immediately drawn into the this world Renae brought about & the characters ensured I did not leave. I have now read this twice since it was released, & I'm excited to begin the sequels asap. If not for getting behind on my massive TBR I would have finished this series already, but there simply aren't enough hours in the day it seems. :) So...in preparation to continuing on in this series I re-read book 1 so I could really appreciate the details.
*Be aware ARV-3 is completely different from her previous works in many ways (mainly subject matter) but her writing style, excitement, & emotion shines just as bright as ever. Regardless of whether you are a Cameo Renae junky {raises hands & waves fanatically} or a newbie to her awesome I believe you will enjoy the tales she weaves.*
These arvies are a unique take on a zombie like race & the atrocities uncovered along the way are a swirling twister of thrilling, terrifying, heart stopping adventure. After more than a decade of hiding & learning to survive in underground bunkers the humans are forced to leave their safe places to leave. Unfortunately what they encountered was not what they were expecting, but you do what you have to do, right? Now they have no choice but go up against these creatures. So...what do you do when everything you thought you knew proves not & who do you trust (or not) to survive?
There's so much more than I could ever share without spoilers, so I won't even go there. If you enjoy a spine tingling ride through what could be with an extra dose of "OMG!!!" & "What were they thinking!?!" then this book may be for you. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Post-Apocalyptic Nightmare....BUT I LOVED IT!!! 26 February 2016
By Lillian @ Mom with a Reading Problem - Published on Amazon.com

ARV-3 by Cameo Renae is the book I’ve been waiting for!!! You guys know me. You know I love dystopians but friends this book is SO MUCH MORE!!! ARV-3 starts with an apocalyptic event, decimating the planet, and supposedly killing just about everyone that didn’t go in a bunker. Flash forward 13 years and the people who went underground are ready to come out, but there’s a surprise waiting for them, something they aren’t prepared for….arvies, zombie-like humanoids who survived the nuclear fallout. The story follows Abigail Park and those from her hive as they travel the barren wastelands to a “safe zone” and what their lives are now like. It’s amazing !!!

Abigail, Abi for short, was 4 when she went underground with her family and 5 other families. At 17 she dreams of feeling the sun on her skin and the smell of a fresh breeze. But she isn’t delusional. She knows that life isn’t a dream and what they are facing above ground will test everything she is. I like Abi! She’s loyal, strong-willed, determined, and independent. At 17 she is ready for whatever life throws her way.

Finn *sigh* and his mother Anya were last minute additions to Abi’s hive before they went underground and Abi can’t imagine life without him. He’s her best friend, confidante, and someone she knows will always have her back. I personally love him! He’s gorgeous…at least in my mind he is. He’s kind, faithful to Abi and the hive, and will do whatever it takes to keep her safe. And oh my does he add some swoon-worthy moments to Abi’s life.

The plot of this book really sets up the series BUT that doesn’t make it any less of a great read! Abi and her family have been underground for 13 years. The fifteen people have had little contact with the outside world and other hives. For 13 years, these people have becoming a family and work like a well-oiled machine. The entire story is told from Abi’s POV and you see the cohesive unit the hive has become and the love they have for one another. My heart broke for them when they went topside. Abi’s fear for each of them bled off the pages! As the hive travels to one of the government bunkers, they see things that no one should ever see. The world as they knew it is gone and there is no recovering from that. Yet they have faith that they can. Character-driven and fast-paced suspense drives the plot and I had a really hard time sitting the book down for any length of time.

Overall I loved this book! It gave me horrific nightmares but I loved it! Oxymoron I know but it’s true! I think the reason I loved this book so much though is the world-building. Cameo Renae has created an amazing post-apocalyptic world which forces the characters to adapt and survive. If you enjoy dystopians as much as I do, I highly recommend you grab a copy of this book (preferably in the morning) and set aside several hours to binge read! You won’t be disappointed, I promise!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great story. Looking forward to more of the series! 7 March 2017

The world around us was desolate and bereft of life. Death in its many forms, was waiting.
Our journey had just begun. We just needed to survive until we reached our new destination. The safe zone, over s thousand miles away in Montana.
***

Living below ground for 13 long years, it is now time for Abigail and her family to go top side. They need to see if they can make it to another shelter, in hopes that they can restart earth and get her going again. What they didn't expect to find was the survivors who lived through the nuclear fall out and what they had become.

I have had this book for quite some time, over 2 yrs to be exact. I think I got it back when the author put it on for free. I guess you can say I am late to the party. So anyhow. I was in dire need of a really good, zombie'ish book to read. And let me tell you, this book did not disappoint. It was so good and kept me quickly reading. I loved all the twists and turns that the characters were faced with and had to endure. It kept me on my toes and feverishly reading.

There is some sweet romance that added to the story. Because if you know me, I like me some romance. But it wasn't too much that would turn those away who are not entirely fond of it themselves. I guess I would say, all of it was perfectly portioned!

Great story, lovable characters, and of course...zombie'ish fiends. This book hit the spot and I look forward to reading more of the series. 5 Stars!
5.0 out of 5 stars Reality is here....... 30 March 2017

Abi and Finn have known each other for years. They grew up as children in one of many bunkers situated around the globe, needed when a solar flare destroyed the earth. Those left had received a shot to combat the effects of the radiation. Unfortunately....The shot had not been tested, and the side effects left them something other than human.

The group of 15 who have lived as a tight nit family are now going topside to make their way to one of the government bunkers. They run into major problems when they are attacked by the Arvie. One person is bitten, which begins the conversion of non human status.

Once they get to the bunker, the boys and girls, unmarried, are separated into areas. Finn has promised Abi his love, and they are officially together. But things are not as they seem. This place may be worse than what awaits them on the outside. And when Finn is injured on a mission, Abi goes to save him. But who will save her from the General and his inflated ego??

What happens next in this charges story?? I don't know....But I will find out.

Read on my friends.
