OMEGA Series

HADRON is a modern day story unrelated to the SODIUM-AMP-OMEGA trilogy series. After scientists using the Large Hadron Collider discover dark matter, the world is plunged into chaos. Massive waves of electromagnetic interference take out all grid power and forms of communication the world over. Cities go dark, food and water supplies are quickly used up, and marauders rule the highways. One group of citizens takes a stand. Can they make a difference? And the devastating EM waves, where are they coming from? After months of starvation, a benevolent species arrive in their spaceships to rescue the Human race. Only, are they really so benevolent?

ARMS Series

ARMS is set in the future after Earth was nearing an apocalyptic event. Two competing colony ships were built, taking five million inhabitants each through a wormhole to a pair of newly discovered planets. The planets were settled and not long after the colonies looked to the surrounding star systems for ownership and expansion, which led to a centuries long war between them. A truce was declared after the aggressor side began to lose ground.

Tawnish Freely and Harris Gruberg are genetically engineered Biomarines. Their lives have been dedicated to fighting the war. They find themselves struggling to find work among a population that fears them. Work is found only by delving into the delivery of illegal arms to the outer colonies. Things go awry when they discover their illicit dealings may just be the catalyst that brings back the Great War. They are determined to prevent that from happening.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another solid installment in the AMP series 25 December 2014

A good portion of the Seige takes place on land (the planet Targ) and the writer does an excellent job at describing the difficulties of slogging through the mud flats while the mass of angry Targs are in pursuit. Through the heat under the blazing sun the Humans and their allied Gonta fighters struggle to get to higher ground to defend themselves against the millions that would soon overtake them. In the battle you could feel the fear, the tension, the tug of the mud on the boots, and the loss of life on both sides; a battlefield littered with the carcasses of the dead. You root for the Humans as well as the Gontas to escape but you remain on edge until safety is found. Not all make it and no one is safe from the author’s pen as he takes us through this exciting journey.

I found the time on the ground to be the most enjoyable part of the book as well as a diversion from the author’s main focus on the crafts and creatures and technology that he so masterfully describes within space. But fear not, Arseneault skillfully introduces us to more sophisticated bio-mechanics and the excellent narrative of Dr. Touchstone on how they work. We were also treated to the use of advanced wormholes and a better understanding of the role of the Duke in the madness that consumes the galaxies. Well written dialog and a balanced narrative makes this a fun and fast read as it sets the stage for the remaining installments of the series. I bought AMP 6-8 at the same time because I feared that the author would get a stranglehold on my attention and I would immediately need to jump right into the next installment; and I was right. I’m finished with seven and working on the finale (book eight).

4.0 out of 5 stars I am your father... Just read the darn books, you will like them! 4 December 2015

I am reading my way through the entire AMP series... these are not great works of literature; but, they are entertaining and very imaginative. If you are into space sci-fi and looking for a fun read you will appreciate the chain of events that stitches each of Arseneault's books together into hours of fanciful reading. The fantastic array of futuristic technologies revealed are explained with almost enough plausibility to allow you to nod and say to yourself, "OK, I can accept this as a possibility" - and keep reading. I am enjoying the series and would recommend them to my friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars AMP 6... fast and fun 10 August 2014

Science fiction, that keeps this reader wanting more. I have read the AMP series, 12 books in all from Stephen Arseneault, and have found his balance between good an evil, refreshing. His style shares the human qualities of the main characters, and balances them with a realistic vision of science & technology. Twists through the story share the emotions of he main character Don Gre

4.0 out of 5 stars Who knows how many stars -- but it's fun for the most part 9 August 2014

All right, if I really, really take a good, hard, objective look at this series and authors style, 1 star, 2 tops. BUT, damn easy read and not complicated. I don't know if tech is good but I don't care. I end up liking most characters and care.

I mean the stories stretch the believability scale quite a bit. But he makes it work with the characters and story lines that are not complicated. There are times when I'm ready to get ill as to how we 'Humans' survive and how highly unlikely our plans and execution would ever really happen. Sometimes it seems story gets a little lost when going in, thru and after a 30 page pure action series.

But it certainly is not complicated and entertaining for the most part.

4.0 out of 5 stars Battle action, advances in wormhole technology, team united 13 August 2015

This story narrative has overtones of Heinlein, Bradbury, McCaffrey, and Asimov. As the harvester ships are sent out to replenish ship stores, it is predictable that new species are encountered and new dilemmas must be solved. Battles are fought, WH portals are improved, an alliance is forged, humans are rescued, and the Duke android becomes more of an enigma. I enjoyed the comic relief the Marines provide and the marital bliss the Granges display. The epilogue overtly reveals the next act in this space opera.
