3.75 stars--A NECESSARY SIN is the first installment in Georgia Cates’s adult, contemporary The Sin Trilogy erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on twenty five year old, former FBI Special Agent Bleu MacAllister, and heir to the Scottish Fellowship Crime syndicate twenty six year old Sinclair Breckenridge.
Told from alternating first person points of view (Bleu and Sin) the focus of the storyline is two fold: the building relationship between Bleu and Sinclair; and Bleu’s revenge for the murder of her mother. Eighteen years earlier, Bleu’s mother was murdered and a seven year old Bleu was left for dead-asphyxiated by a well dressed man with a Scottish brogue. Fast forward to present day and Bleu’s need to avenge her mother’s death has become all encompassing. In order to get near the man she hopes to kill, Bleu will have to seduce the son and make him believe that she is the woman of his dreams. Falling in love with the enemy was never in the plans. Bleu is ‘obsessed with finding her attacker’ and she will have to infiltrate the world of organized crime.
The relationship between Bleu and Sin is one of immediate attraction but Bleu is in Scotland to complete a job-kill Thane Breckenridge-the man she believes murdered her mother. Sinclair Breckinridge is a sexy, powerful, intelligent and dangerous man-the heir to the Fellowship Crime Syndicate and a man Bleu has been led to believe has no problems killing on demand. His attraction and need for Bleu finds Sinclair claiming Bleu as his own but in order to protect the woman with whom he has fallen in love, Sinclair must risk his own life at the hands of the people he calls family and friends. Both Sin and Bleu face both internal and personal conflicts. The sex scenes are erotic and sensual. There is plenty of sexual tension between our leading couple.
The secondary and supporting characters are an interesting mix of people with questionable pasts including Sinclair’s friends and fellow members of the Brotherhood (Leith, Jamie); former lovers; and Sinclair’s family (his father Thane, Uncle Abram , and mother Isobel) whose connection to Bleu’s mother’s death may not be everything Bleu has been led to believe. Bleu’s adopted father Harry MacAllister is a former FBI agent who has trained Bleu from an early age to protect and kill whenever necessary.
The world building takes the reader behind the scenes of a dark and dangerous crime syndicate where proving your worth means risking your life at the hands of those in charge. Trust must be earned through pain and blood; fidelity must be sworn with your life; no one is safe when betrayal is discovered. Outsiders are definitely not welcome.
There is some graphic violence and imagery but mostly implied behind the scenes. There is plenty of tension as the reader waits for Bleu’s true identity to be discovered. The plot takes an interesting twist when hints and clues are dropped about who may have been responsible for Bleu’s mother’s death. The storyline ends on a cliff hanger so be forewarned-you will want to read what happens next.
A NECESSARY SIN is an enjoyable and fascinating read; an interesting take on the mob; revenge; and betrayal but there is an important detail left out of the equation. It is never revealed (or at least I am unable to find the information) how Bleu knew the identity of the man who murdered her mother and left Bleu for dead. Also, it was too easy for Bleu to get ‘inside the mob’. For a secretive organization, too many people were willing to reveal too much information to a stranger they knew nothing about.

This is my first book by Georgia and I can say that it was absolutely great!!!
I love "mafia/family" type books but this one is different than what I thought it would be. The story goes across continents and there is a great time to be had in Scotland. There is nothing not to love about this book. Bleu is the ultimate female lead, she is strong yet feminine, a total badass woman who can take care of herself but has been been through some rough times in her life. Sinclair is my kind of alpha man who knows how to look after his woman but still gives her a chance to spread her wings and grow into the person she wants to be. The love between these two is next level and the drama and intrigue will keep you on the edge of your seat. this book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger so you will have to go and get book two right now!

Bleu is out for revenge. She has lived her life to avenge the killer of her mother, to seek justice in the form of death - the death of the man who changed her life forever. The time comes & she steps into her final role of this journey, every angle covered, every step of this planned to precision - except she didn't expect to fall in love with Sin.
He is the son of the Fellowship Leader, he demands respect & doesn't flinch at what needs to be done in his role within this clan. He hides his own secrets, secrets that could destroy him & his postion. He has no room for emotion, for a woman, for love. Until he meets Sin.
The character development was good & I love the twists & turns of the plot. I truly didn't expect the end to finish as it did & cant wait to read book 2.

A Necessary Sin (The Sin Trilogy #1) by Georgia Cates
5 stars!!
“Into me … you see,”
My first five star read of 2015 goes to…Georgia Cates!! I have had this book on my kindle for a few weeks and was eager for it to get to the top of my list. I loved Georgia’s Beauty from Pain series so was itching to get my grabby hands on this one. Cover lust, check…Blurb lust, check…Book LOVE, check!!
I have to say that this was a fantastic read and for me is by far Georgia’s best book yet. For a first book in series this book serves its purpose by the bucket load. It is an addictive read; I could not put it down. The plot had me hooked as did the characters, there was nothing I disliked about this book and at the end all I was left wanting for, was more.
Bleu MacAllister is one ballsy woman, since she was twelve years old she has had one mission in life and that was to avenge her mother’s death. She has trained in martial arts, she was a police officer, she worked for the FBI, but to her these were not jobs, they were training. She has done everything she can to make herself the ultimate killer. She is strong, she is emotionally detached, she is fierce but most of all she is determined. Her mother’s death affected her in more ways than one and that one event has led her to be the woman that she is today. Her adopted fathers ailing health means that she has to bring her mission forward…revenge is near…off to Scotland she goes.
“Telling him I intended to hunt and execute Thane Breckenridge was the straw that broke the camel’s back.”
I loved the setting for this book, being from the UK and recently attending the book signing event in Edinburgh, I could picture a lot of the scenes in this book and they only brought back fond memories. I love it when I can actually picture the surroundings; it always makes the book seem more real.
The family that she needs to infiltrate are a mafia type and are very security conscious. They are only friends with people within the group, they can only marry within the group, they are extremely intrinsic and this is all through fear of competitors and enemies finding a way in. There are rules and these are to never be broken but Bleu believes her way in is through the next in line to the “throne,” Sinclair Breckenridge. He is a lawyer and has nearly completed his training to take over from his father. Now Bleu just has to make her move. Being emotionally detached will have its benefits after all, but that was before she met Sinclair.
“Rule number ten: it’s all about the right move at the right time—pacing and patience. I’ll read his emotions and body language to know what needs to come next. A necessary sin. That’s what tonight is.”
I have to say, I found another BBF in Sinclair Breckenridge, or Sin as he is known by. He was an intense character, highly revered by all, he oozed confidence and his leadership qualities were there for all to see and adhere to. He spoke, you listened, he said jump, you said how high! He came across all dark, brooding and menacing but even in the beginning I could see little flickers of light lurking in the background.
This was similar to insta-lust but our Bleu makes him work for it and this is something that Sin is totally unaccustomed too. Sin is used to women falling over themselves to get a night with him so to come across a woman that isn’t really piques his interest. The character connection between these two was scorching and you felt it through the pages, page by page you felt their bond deepen. Sin is intrigued by Bleu; he loves the fact that she is feisty and fierce, yet loyal and protective. I loved the way that Georgia Cates gradually showed the change in Sin, slowly but surely you saw him believe in himself and Bleu; they were so well suited it was uncanny.
“I love you, Bleu MacAllister. I’ll always do what it takes to keep you safe, no matter the extreme.”
I have to admit, I was on tenterhooks throughout this book. You know that their relationship is unconventional and on paper should never happen and never last. It is with your heart in your throat that you continue reading knowing that this can only go south. I was so invested in their relationship though, the writing was perfect, I felt the chemistry, the emotion, the fear, the anticipation, I felt it all and I absolutely loved it. While the subject of revenge is at the forefront of the story it more or less takes a back seat throughout this book, it is always there lurking in the background but this for all intents and purposes is Sin and Bleu’s story and I cannot wait for February 9th for book 2, The Next Sin. For those that hate waiting, there is more good news…the third book in the Trilogy, One Last Sin releases on 23rd March.
“He didn’t kill my mother but he’s the spawn of the man who did. I’m supposed to be sickened by his touch, so why am I desperate to have more of it?”
I have to take my hat off to Georgia Cates, she nailed this one.

This was a fabulous start to a gripping trilogy fell in love with these characters right from thee beginning loved Bonny Bleu and Sin was to die for I'm fairly certain things are not quite what they seem in relation to Bleus mother after all Bleu only saw shoes, smelt aromas and heard that funny accent never saw a face she was also only seven at the time. Can't wait to read more of Sin and Bleu in the next installment.

Bleu and Sinclair
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 July 2017Verified Purchase
Even though I enjoyed this story it wasn't worth a five star sorry. I loved them as a couple, they are well suited. Know matter what Sinclair thinks of Bleu's betrayal he w would never kill her. I have a feeling I know who killed her mum, but I will keep it to myself for now to see if am right.
