This is a good introduction to vegetarian cooking. The recipes offer healthy, nutritious, meatless meals that can be prepared fairly quickly with basic tools and skills. It is a good way to get started on meatless cooking, or for those who already experienced with vegetarian cuisine, it provides a file of quick and easy recipes suitable for everyday meals.
I’ve tried going vegetarian before, but just never got the hang of how to make sure the protein and balance of nutrients were there. The way Lisa Turner does it, you don’t have to worry about that. You just make sure you’re using the basic foods that support a vegetarian diet and you’re on your way!
Whether you’re wholly committed to giving up meat or not, these recipes would easily compliment any meal. Add to that, this is a really complete cookbook in that there are recipes for any meal, any time, even snacks and desserts. Included are styles and seasonings from different cuisines that will dress up your meals and still be easy to prepare. Also, there is a comparison chart between meat and vegetarian staples so you can see for yourself how much protein you’d be getting when using these vegetarian basics. And in case you aren’t sure about how to prepare a certain vegetable, the author has included a guide for prepping and cooking a wide range of vegetables.
Add to all that her 100 delicious, mouth-watering ideas for quick and healthy meals, and you have a real winner! I can hardly wait to get started!
