5.0 out of 5 stars Live your life as if today is your last day... 1 March 2016
By Letty (CovertoCoverBookBlog) - Published on

Heartbreak affects everyone in different ways and sometimes we don’t know how to get past it. In this new novel by LK Collins, we are given a powerful rendition of what "Live your life as if today is your last day" really means.

Krane has lost his girlfriend Zoe, the woman he considered the love of his life, and depression completely consumes him. Collins gives a realistic depiction of the toll losing someone we love can have on a person. Krane doesn’t know what to do with himself and his relationship with everyone else suffers. It was sad to see the pain he was in and how difficult it was for him to live each day without Zoe.

Ivy, Zoe’s sister, is one other person taking her death as hard as Krane. I love how their relationship helped them both assimilate and endure the loss. The way they each helped each other “come down from the ledge” as they say, was beautiful to see as the way their relationship was growing became evident.

They are both hurting and relying on each other seems to help them, but at the same time, doing this too much can have bad results. When the relationship between Krane and Ivy begins to go in a direction that they might not be ready to understand and accept, tensions rise and feelings get hurt.
The hurt, the passion, and the guilt that follows them has them questioning their decisions and can put a damper on the relationship that seems to finally ground them both.

Once again we are invited to ride the emotional rollercoaster that LK Collins likes to write about. Krane and Ivy’s story is one of love, friendship, survival, and healing. It is a wonderful read that everyone needs to 1click right away!

4.0 out of 5 stars 3 Breaths by L.K. Collins- a heartfelt tale of loss and love! Reviewed by Loraine Oliver 12 March 2016
By Loraine Oliver - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
3 Breaths by L.K. Collins is a moving story of love developed out of terrible circumstances but more powerful because of the way it started.

Krane is a young man, who fell in love with Zoe and they were on their way home one night after their engagement dinner and at the subway station Zoe has a horrible seizure that takes her life! Krane was devastated by this and he went off on his own and just would not accept help from anyone. On top of that, Zoe's mother blamed Krane saying if they had not been out drinking, it would have never happened. It simply was not true.

The only person that understood how he was feeling was Zoe's little sister, Ivy. Ivy was just as torn up as Krane was, and they comforted each other, giving each other strength, when no one else could. Krane did not have a regular job he was in underground fighting and he always won, and that is what kept him paying his rent and Zoe's as well, until he was able to close up the apartment.

Krane and Ivy started spending time together and she always tried to be positive for him as he was for her when she needed someone and they became friends. The author did a great job, through her writing making us feel the grief and loss as if we are there with the characters, and can feel the depth of their sorrow.

One night Ivy asks Krane what is going on between them and while he wants to move on he is afraid to move on with Ivy as she is his only friend. He tries to explain it to her but her feelings have started to run deep and his hesitance to commit to anything upset her tremendously and she leaves. Krane tries to call and text her but she does not answer. Krane winds up going to his sister's wedding, and it is horrible being without Ivy. He sees how many times he has tried to call her in the week they have been apart and that does not include all the texts! In a moment of self doubt he deletes her number so he can't call her anymore.

After a week of not hearing or seeing Ivy, Krane goes to her house, after going to her job and finding out she quit! Her front door is open, and her house is torn apart, her cat is hungry and there is no food or water down. He can't find her and he goes to her room and there she is. He finally realizes in that moment that he needs this woman in his life. The question is, will Ivy forgive him? It is interesting to note that the author while writing this story made us realize that both of these characters did not want to forget Zoe, they just miss her so much in their own ways and it does not affect how they feel for each other.

I loved the way this book finished, and how out of all the sadness, guilt, unhappiness, and self doubt things turn out for both Ivy and Krane. I was really surprised by what happens in the last quarter of the book. If you want to read a book that is really well written and makes you feel so much, you need to read this book! It is my first book by this author and I can't wait to read more by her!

I gave this book 4**** emotional stars!
5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING STORY!!! 12 May 2017
By Chick and Brain - Published on

This is my first time reading anything by L.K. Collins and I can promise this will not be my last. I can say I am not angst reader. I love some conflict and drama in my romance novels, but usual I am roses and sunshine. This is not my typical type of read, but I was drawn to this story by the synopsis. These feelings continued throughout the narrative which can be attributed to Collin's writing and amazing storytelling ability.Collins's characters leap off the page and grip your soul. We experience the pain of each character of this book as our own, and we even are able to share in their job. When we are finished, we are left with this sense of completion that very few authors are able to achieve.

Krane is at the top of the world. He has a fiance that loves him and he is on his way to make his professional dreams of becoming a fighter come true. However that all changes when Zoe and Krane are on their way home from their engagement party. Zoe dies unexpectedly and Krane is left to continue. Everyone in his life expects him to be okay, to move on and move forward but for some reason Krane is unable to do so. He can not let go of the love he had for Zoe or the pain of loosing her, and it is eating him alive from the inside out. He finds many means to escape the pain, but none of them last very long. His only relief is when he is with Ivy.

Ivy is Zoe's sister. They were not very close to each other when she passed, so Ivy has many regrets on how things were left between them. These regrets have begun to slowly destroy Ivy as well, however unlike Krane she has no outlet. Ivy's outlet for the pain is Krane. He is the only one that understands why she is still hurting, and they have a connection because of this pain that no one else could ever understand. Will this pain be the glue that bonds them together or the wedge that drives them apart and destroys both of them?

Collins writes us a slow burn for the love story of Ivy and Krane. We all know it is going to happen, but the lack of it happening instantaneously makes it seem more realistic and lasting. We are given a realistic perspective on loss and finding redemption from different faces of the coin. We are shown how grief affects everyone around us as well as us ourselves. Even people who are indirectly connected are at times grossly affected by a person's grief. We feel it all. From Krane, Ivy and all those around them. Collins ensures that we are able to grieve the loss of Zoe along with the other characters, but still celebrate Ivy and Krane's ability to heal and move past her death.

This story surprised, me not even going to sugar coat it. I fell in love with Krane and Ivy as individuals and together. I will for sure be looking for more of Collin's books in the future and have already sent recommendations out to all of my friends! So if I haven't told you to read this yet, read it immediately! You will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Tear Jerker But Worth It 23 March 2016
By Joselyn P - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I don't tend to read many tear jerkers because I read in public more often than not and don't care to look like a mess amongst non-readers. After reading the blurb I suspected I would get teary eyed at times, but no. This book had the tears falling from my eyes. For one, I think it's because of how fantastic the writing is. It made me feel as if I was the character. I felt completely immersed in the book.
Overall this is a beautiful story of two people healing one another by just being. And whether you are a sucker for sappy stories or not I believe everyone should read this book. It will help you to appreciate what you have because you never know when you may lose it.

A short and quick read about learning to live and love again when you thought all was lost.
The beginning of this book started off with a a few tears may have been shed!
As the book progressed, I enjoyed the storyline but I wanted more behind both characters!! One of my favorite things about reading is well developed characters.....and I feel like this one just barely missed the mark.
It's a beautiful storyline......and even though some may not agree with our characters coming together in the book.....I thought it was well told by LK. I have read several books by LK, and while this one may not be my favorite, I am not disappointed in reading it and I will continue to be a fan and look forward to more reads!!
