Product Description

Hockey defenseman, Jordan Byrd, has made mistakes. Not fighting harder to be in his daughter’s life was one, but the other was thinking that life would be somehow better without his best friend in it. However, as badly as he’d like Marlo back in his life, the last five years showed him a side of her he never imagined possible.

At twenty-two, Marlo Byrd unexpectedly found herself divorced and raising an infant on her own. Jordan had been her everything—her family and her protector—until one day he decided he wanted out. No calls. No letters. Nothing. She managed to find solace in the team that was once his…until five years later, when Jordan’s traded back.

Back in the Enforcers locker room, Jordan is quickly put in his place—he may have a spot on the team, but his ex has a spot in the “family.”

Everyone has an opinion on what happened between Jordan and Marlo.

Did Jordan leave Marlo, and never look back, wearing the ‘deadbeat dad’ label?
Or did Marlo hold back on Jordan, wanting to hurt him the way he hurt her?

Gloves will be dropped.
Fights will commence.
But who will come out the victor?

Authors Note: This is a second-chance romance novella that serves as a lead-in to the Enforcers of San Diego series. The following stories will all be full-length.

Dropping the Gloves by Mignon Mykel is a second chance romance set in her world of hockey and this time with the San Diego Enforcers as we catch up with Marlo and Jordan 5 years after their divorce.

Not a Mignon book goes by where I don't shed at least a few years. Whether it be from the tough circumstances her characters are in, or from the tenderest of moments that get you right in the heart, and Dropping the gloves is no different.

Mignon has a gift of looking beyond the ordinary and creates circumstances that are sometimes confronting, or heartbreaking, or not often spoken about and makes you think, feel and question as you read.

Another fantastic book to add to the Love in all places series and a great way to start the Enforcers of San Diego series. If you have not read any of this amazing series yet, I strongly urge you to pick any of them up.

I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good start to new series but too short. 8 July 2017

I love Mignon Mykel, and I had been anticipating reading this book since the moment she gave us a first look. Jordan and Marlo's story was a great start in this new series, and it had all the elements that make a second chance romance and novella good. However, I wanted more! I wanted more substance and history, and I'm surprised to say a little more angst. I felt like Marlo gave in too quickly to Jordan. He needed to fight harder for her especially since he failed to do so in regard to his daughter over the past 5 years. I also would have liked to learn more about what went on with Jordan's family. Their story would make a great full length novel. :)

I fell in love with Marlo and her feelings then I fell in love with Jordan and his determination to be a part of his family. I need more books! I was half way in thinking that maybe it would be a three book long series but it isn't and that's sad. I would love to see what happened during the years rori gree up. And also the years after the third baby!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Jordan and Marlo!! 5 July 2017

I loved this book. 27:Dropping the Gloves is a second chance romance about Jordan Byrd and his ex- wife Marlo. Even though this was a quick read for me, the story still had all of the heartache and then the return to their love for each other that you expect in a second chance romance. Mignon Mykel knows how to pack a well placed punch to the heart everytime!

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book!

I loved their story so much !
I was praying and hoping for the same feels as before and she delivered. Jordan and Marlo were derailed for 5 years and how that happened was very painful. But he's back and he wants another chance. She's also tough and loveable and I was hooked from page 1 !!

One of the very best 2nd chance romances I've read this year !

3.0 out of 5 stars wish she had kept on her gloves 6 July 2017
By Renee - Published on Amazon.com

I think this author is a really good writer and enjoy reading her books. The reason for the 3 star is because I can't stand Jordan. He wanted a divorce so he can have sex with other women. He does and realizes that's not really what he wants - wow - really. Meanwhile Marlo has only dated some. Why doesn't she get to experience being with someone other than Jordan? Jordan has come to his senses and wants Marlo back. I am sorry but why doesn't he have to suffer for what he put her through? I wish their reconciliation had taken way more time. In my opinion she forgave and forgot way too soon (some of the worst apologies EVER). Great writing and storyline but ... I still can't stand Jordan.
