I love the artwork and the diversity of the people in her artwork. Applause applause applause. It is the same format year after year which I enjoy as well. This year I noticed two new pages.
I didn’t give it a five star for only two reasons from a veteran purchaser perspective. The color was slightly dull...I mean slightly by the publisher. The colors will do her beautiful artwork more justice if it was more vibrant. Second reason for four stars, I say change up the artwork a bit. Not every page but at least some pages. Beside from the cover the artwork is the same.
Here is my take on the workbook and what I personally like and dislike.
-Every page is colorful and/or has doodles. it definitely keeps my interest more than just plain ole black and white pages would.
-Good variety of life goals to work towards: exercise, family, creativity, career, etc
-2018 recap at the beginning of the workbook
-Extra Brainstorming Pages
-Book recommendations throughout
-Some topics take up too many pages with very little space to add your own thoughts. Example: creativity page has a page front and back of creative idea doodles with very little space to write your own creative ideas/doodles. Same for the movement pages. Sure there’s brainstorming pages in the back, but I have other ideas for those and it would be nice to have a bigger section to write my own ideas under those topics.
-Family section has mention of children and mother goals. I’m not sure why it can’t say “parent” vs mother? Surely father figures can find this workbook useful as well. Obviously those without children will just have to skip those questions.
-Oracle Reading and Dreamboard...just not for me personally but I can understand how others might like them.
-Year 2018 was left on one goal page. May seem trivial but it made me wonder how much was or wasn’t changed from last years version to this years (again, I don’t know for sure...this was my first purchase).
Overall, I think I will find this workbook useful this upcoming year. Normally I only plan on having one “New Years Resolution”, never writing it down or even really serious about it, and of course that doesn’t end in success. I like that this will help me think about personal growth in so many different areas, not just one annual goal and writing things down definitely helps. I’m going to use it, but I’m not sure I would buy it again. I guess I’ll see where I stand at the end of the year.
My favourite bit of the workbooks is that they take you through every section of your life and get you thinking about what you want that life to be like in the coming year. Then they get you thinking about how you make that happen. When I looked back at previous workbooks, I can see all the fun things I wanted to do, and how many of them I actually did.
I have to say, I normally buy these through Amazon UK, but their delivery estimate is between 1 and 3 months, which is nuts. To pre-order something in August that will be released in November and be told you might get it in February 2019 is appalling. I don't want to be planning 2019 in February, I want to do it now. I had to cancel my UK order and came here instead, getting the workbook in just 5 days. Personally, I hope Leonie ditches her publisher and self publishes on Amazon again!
In a nutshell, I’m very pleased!! As always, the artwork is gorgeous, and the page topics are inticing and thought-provoking (my favs are the 100 list and the Oracles cards). I had zero issues with order/delivery, and my workbook arrived in beautiful shape and on time!
I’m still debating purchasing the Biz workbook (because I’m starting a new biz from square one and am not sure if the Biz workbook is right for that), but I’ll make a final decision soon.
