200 Chocolate Recipes includes so much more than the many delicious chocolate recipes indicated by this book’s title. In fact, this book contains so much more information on chocolate and cacao than I have previously come across. The historical information surrounding the origin of chocolate is amazing and the researched history includes information on the Olmec civilization, the Mayans, the Aztec Indians and even how Christopher Columbus encountered chocolate. This is only the start of the researched accounting on the history of this “revered” “gift from the gods”. The author also includes a fascinating account of how the chocolate bar actually came to be.
In addition to the many delicious chocolate recipes the author handpicked, a detailed discussion on the many health benefits that cacao offers is also discussed.
The first recipe I’m going to make from this book will be the “Carrot Cake Brownies” – due to the very nutritious ingredients it contains.
200 chocolate recipes was enough to sell me on this book however, the fascinating history that the author has uncovered made for captivating reading which simply amazes me. An easy five stars!
