Good follow-up to "Praise"

The earlier adventures of Gordon Buchanan of "Praise" fame.

Gordon (the aspiring writer) and Wayne, an aspiring artist acquaintance, get a job as weather observers on the Cobourg Peninsula, North East of Arnhem Land for 6 months....and proceed to drive themselves, and each other, nuts. The novel describes what Gordon's just gone through before he meets Cynthia and they begin their intense affair (the subject of "Praise").

Although this set earlier in time, it's probably best to read "Praise" first. While "1988" is good (with wonderful descriptions of the far North and those who live there), "Praise" is a masterpiece.
